Transfiguration Sunday, February 14, 2021.

The focus of Transfiguration Sunday is that Jesus is the divine Son of God. Halfway between the celebration of "God with us" in the baby born in a manger, and the celebration of the resurrected Christ with us forever, we are reminded that Jesus was not just a good person, or even a new prophet. Jesus is God's Son who lived among us. With this in mind, we prepare for Lent.
In the Gospel of Mark 9:2-9, the Transfiguration, Mark tells us who Jesus is by how he looked and who stood with him. Unfortunately, Mark assumes that his readers know the significance of Jesus' appearance and of Moses' and Elijah's presence. Sometimes we don’t, and we get lost in extensive explanations. All we need to know is that no human being ever looked like Jesus did on that mountain; that being seen with Moses and Elijah meant that Jesus was God's Messiah; and that God's voice confirmed what the disciples saw. The disciples did understand and were impressed. Jesus then told them to tell no one what they had seen. In children's words, "You now know for sure that I am the Son of God, but you do not yet know what that means. It is not just looking superhuman and knowing long-dead leaders like Moses and Elijah. The important part of being the Son of God is suffering, even dying, to save people."

Join us this Sunday as we look closer at the Transfiguration of Jesus and prepare to begin our Lenten journey for 2021 next week. Please find the link and login information for this Sunday’s Zoom Worship at 9:30 AM.

In these difficult times I ask that you remember your church and the ministries that are taking place in this world. Help us stay financially fit that when we come together again, our ministries will be stronger, active and community minded. Mail your tithes, offerings or gifts to…

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

At some point, we all face circumstances that are unsettling and take us out of our comfort zones. Whether you’re facing a big life decision, a tough conversation with a good friend, or test results from a recent doctor’s visit, a peaceful mindset can help you find the strength and comfort you need to combat any and all uncertainty and restlessness. When you’re ready to face these situations head on, look to the Bible as a source for finding peace. Today is inauguration day for our 46th President. Whether you are happy with the outcome of the election or not the fact is Joe Biden is now our president. I feel compelled to ask you to pray for our country as never before. Pray for our leaders in government that they may lead with a Christian heart, that they lead in a way to work for the American people despite their political affiliation and to lead our country forward in peace. I pray that the divide in the American people may be healed In a way that will show the world the strength and dignity that only Christian leaders can bring to the table. And most off all I pray for peace. Peace for all of you in Christ Jesus as he promises in John 14:27.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Join us this Sunday as we look at Mark 1:14-20 where Jesus is beginning to call his disciplines to “Follow Him” as we bring the message of “Gone Fishing.” Zoom worship will begin at 9:30 am. Log in early to chat with others as they gather. You will find the link below. In these difficult times I ask that you remember your church and the ministries that are taking place in this world. Merry Christmas Everyone,
As promised, here is the link for our upcoming Christmas Eve worship service. There will be two possibilities to join us on Christmas Eve, either at 4:30 PM or 9:00 PM, whatever will fit your calendar and schedule. Please note that this link is different than our regular worship link. We will be celebrating Holy Communion, so please have juice and bread available (or other substitutes if necessary.))We will be singing Silent Night at the end so if you want to have a candle handy to light you may want to do that. This year we will try to maintain some tradition to our service, yet knowing it cannot be the same. Please know that my heart yearns for us to be together but we also know that in order to keep people safe and do no harm, we must continue zoom. May the peace of Christ be with you all this Christmas and I look forward to seeing you on zoom. Please share our Facebook post.
