Questions: Read Phil. 3:1-11 and then discuss the following questions:
1. Who are the “dogs” Paul talks about in verse 2?
2. Why does Paul say “we are the circumcision”? What does he mean?
3. What kind of spiritual qualifications could Paul potentially boast about? Why are these significant?
4. Why does Paul instead dismiss this heritage?
5. What is the only thing that matters now for Paul?
6. How do you “gain Christ and be found in him”?
7. Where does your righteousness come from?
8. How do you sometimes feel like you need to prove yourself to God or other Christians? Why is that? How does this passage challenge that tendency?

Prayer: Oh Lord, help us to truly count everything as loss in comparison to the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus. Help us to do whatever it takes to gain Christ and be found in him. Help us to trust Jesus entirely for our righteousness, not leaning on our own good works or efforts. And help us to follow him faithfully for every moment of our life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
