This couple in the state of Maine have realized the savings a ductless heat pump can provide. It is nice seeing utilities supporting these efficient technologies. Maybe we can get NYSEG and NYSERDA on board too!

Dynamic Energy Solutions proudly announces the addition of Fujitsu ductless mini-splits from Fujitsu General to our product line. We are always looking for the best solutions for our customers and feel a diverse product offering is a good approach.

Below are a couple pictures of a floor mount singe zone high efficiency Extra Low Temperature Heating (XLTH) Fujitsu model designed for cold climate and guaranteed heating operation down to -15F. The pictures are of a finished basement where this unit is being tested in a home in Newark Valley, NY. The homeowner has a Mitsubishi unit to serve the upstairs which has worked well, but without a heat source the basement was about 56F during the winter. Now the basement is warm and the upstairs has become more comfortable with more consistent temperatures and warmer floors. The performance of this unit been excellent so far and the customer is delighted with the system.

If you haven't been to Annie's Bar & Grill in the past couple weeks, you may want to stop by and enjoy the 2 new heat pumps installed there. Annie now keeps it cool and comfortable. Stop by and enjoy a cool seat at the bar or at one of the tables. Order a delicious meal from the menu and relax with a cold drink! I can personally recommend the Philly cheesesteak sandwich, wings, club sandwich, salads, and chicken Spiedies! Everything is made fresh with generous portions!

This is a chart showing BTU per $ based on current energy costs and various traditional heating systems at typical efficiencies. The chart shows various outdoor air temperatures and the typical heat pump performance at those temperatures. As you can see the Mitsubishi heat pumps far outperform traditional heating systems. If you want the excel spreadsheet to put in the energy costs for your areas message me with your email address and I will send the spreadsheet to you.

This is based on:
$1.50 per therm natural gas (87% System Efficiency - COP=.87)
$4.00 per gallon fuel oil (85% System Efficiency - COP=.85)
$.10 per kwh electric rate (100% Resistance Efficiency - COP=1.0)
$3.00 per gallon propane (87% System Efficiency - COP=.87)

The heat pump can use electricity at a COP of 4.3...
That's 430% efficient! Sounds impossible because it is over unity, but the energy from the outside air is free. Think of it as $1 worth of electricity used to run the compressor and fans + $3.30 worth of energy from the outside air. That gives you $4.30 worth of heat for every dollar spent. Pretty good technology!

The enclosed trailer with the self contained 9,000 BTU H2i Mitsubishi heat pump and self contained battery system went on public display for the first time at a Masonic pancake breakfast in Windsor at the beginning of April. I had a bunch of people visit and considering it was 40F outside the unit was able to keep it cozy inside the trailer the entire time with the 3 foot wide side door open.
The pictures of the battery bank and inverter were taken at an earlier time. The electrical system uses eight 225 Ah 6 volt golf cart batteries in series for 48 v nominal. The 48 Vdc then feeds an inverter that provides up to 5,500 watts continuous at 120 vac. Of course the heat pump in the trailer requires a 240 vac feed at about 10 amps so a step up transformer is used. This system can be connected to our home to power it during power outages by only running the generator for 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening for power 24x7 or when used for camping it provides a comfortable dry place to sleep with plenty of power to run the heat pump, lights, charge devices, and run a small freezer and another small freezer modified as a chest style refrigerator. A modified freezer allows us to consume 1/20th the power of a standard frost free energy star fridge (.100 kwh per day vs 2 kwh per day).

Here are a variety of heat pump installations that we have done. I haven't spent much time on Facebook lately, so I thought I would post a bunch of pictures from the iPhone..

Sorry I haven't posted any pictures of installations recently. Been very busy installing the systems. Will be adding more pictures of installations this coming winter.
