Greetings EMZ Fellowship,
As we are on the cusp of yet another Lenten Season, I want to remind us all of the Meaning of “Fat Tuesday” and how that intertwines with Lent. Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before the Lenten season—a period of forty days whereby Christians traditionally fast or give up certain foods to ensure their purity and righteousness. The forty days represent the time that Jesus spent fasting in the desert where he resisted the temptation of Satan.
Today, we are celebrating Fat Tuesday and deciding what we are going to give up to ascertain our purity and righteousness. I would like to remind us that through the power of Jesus Christ, we are also to pick something up….Remember that sermon two weeks ago about “Kenosis which is self-emptying”. As we give up something, take on one thing that will bring glory to the Lord. So, as we prepare for tomorrow’s Lenten service, please remember to celebrate this day with your family and friends. Go out to IHOP, Bob Evans, or Denny’s and have a pancake dinner or fellowship at one another’s homes. Whatever you do, do it in the strength of the Lord so that when tomorrow comes, we are able to “self-empty” and meditate on the Lord and the sacrifice of Christ so he can be more clear and evident in your lives.
Blessing to you all and hope to see you tomorrow night at 7pm.
Because He Lives,
Rev. Isaiah Redd, Sr.
