Families can be sealed together for eternity in temples. 18 years ago, Charles & Alyssa Woodbury were sealed in the Orlando Temple on March 8, 2008. That same day, their friends Omar & Kate Spilsbury were also sealed in the Orlando Temple.

Alyssa Woodbury said, “Attending the temple helps to center my mind and heart on the eternal perspective of our journeys. The temple brings us closer to the Savior through our Covenants we make within and even just through our lives in accordance to the requirements of the temple recommend itself. Attending the temple brings me so much peace and renews my soul.”

Both couples live in Jacksonville and will soon be able to worship in the Jacksonville Temple when it is finished. What a blessing it will be once both temples open! Both beautiful temples will host public open houses before they are dedicated. Come and see the house of the Lord!

On the second day of Holy Week we remember when Jesus Christ cleansed the Temple. In Matthew 21:12-14, we read that Jesus entered the Temple and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers. He then healed the blind and the lame who came to Him in the Temple.

The Lord cleared the merchants and noise from the Temple to keep it holy and free from chaos. In the Temple, we can find peace and holiness, free from distraction so we can focus on God instead of the noise from the world.

The youth of the New Independence Congregation recently took a special trip to the Fort Lauderdale Temple so they could participate in performing baptisms for the dead. The youth rose early in the morning to travel together to the temple. Worthy members of The Church may bless individuals and families on the other side of the veil by being baptized by proxy for their deceased loved ones in the Temple.

Dean and Louise Richey were Church members here in Central Florida when the Church was still very small. Dean was a member of the Church who moved to Lakeland shortly after World Ward II. One day, he saw a flier in the newspaper about an upcoming conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jacksonville. Dean brought Louise with him on a bus to the conference, which was being held in a member's home. When they arrived, they found just eight people at the conference, including the two of them. Dean and Louise began attending Church in Winter Haven. Louise joined the Church six years after their wedding. Then, about a year after having their first child, their family was sealed together for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. At that time, the closest Temple was in Mesa, Arizona. Now, there are over 176,000 members of the Church, 278 congregations, and five Temples in Florida either constructed or announced.

Jesus Christ set an example for all of us to follow when He was baptized despite that he was without sin. Baptism is a saving ordinance which makes it possible for us to return to our Heavenly Father, who loves us. Our ancestors who did not have an opportunity to be baptized during life may be baptized by proxy in temples. God's love for each of us is infinite.
