Bethlehem AME Zion Church

Bethlehem AME Zion Church Rev. Lynn E Hill, Pastor Bethlehem A.M.E. Zion Church was organized in 1872. Zion Church served as one of the few black church schools in Barrow County.

The church was remolded in 1920 and was rebuilt in 1968 after the church/school burned down. We continue to spread God's word throughout the community with the hope of drawing more people to Christ.

Psalms 33 : 10-22

Psalms 33 is a celebration of God’s power, faithfulness, and authority over all creation. It calls us to rejoice in Him; not just for what He does, but for who He is!

In Psalms 32:10-22, we see the contrast between the uncertainty of the world and the unshakable faithfulness of God. While human plans may rise and fall, the Lord’s purpose cannot be overturned.

Let us be reminded that even when life feels uncertain, chaotic, or unfair, we can trust that God is still in control. His eyes are on those who fear Him, on those who place their hope in His unfailing love.

Be encouragement! We are not at the mercy of the world, we are held by a faithful God whose love never fails! Let your heart rest in Him today. 🥰

Holy Week Prayer of Thanksgiving

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with grateful hearts during this Holy Week, thanking You for Your unfailing love and the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the sacrifice made on Calvary, for the blood that was shed, and for the grace that covers us daily.

Lord, we honor You for the power of the cross and the victory of the empty tomb. Thank You that death was defeated and hope was restored through the resurrection of our risen Savior. Because He lives, we have life, purpose, and eternal promise.

As we reflect on this sacred week, help us to draw closer to You. Renew our faith, strengthen our hearts, and remind us of the depth of Your love. Let our lives be a testimony of Your goodness, mercy, and redeeming power.

We give You all glory, honor, and praise; not just this week, but every day.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Be Still… God is Still God
Psalm 46

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble… Be still, and know that I am God.”

Life can feel loud, uncertain, and even overwhelming at times, but Psalm 46 reminds us that no matter what is shaking around us, God is never shaken. He is our safe place, our strength, and our constant help.

When the scripture says, “Be still,” it is more than just being quiet; it is a command to stop striving, release control, and trust God fully. It is a spiritual posture of surrender, choosing faith over fear.

And then we see the word Selah, a pause. A moment to stop, reflect, and truly take in what God's Word is saying. It invites us to slow down and let His truth settle in our hearts.

Today, take a moment to pause… Selah.
Let go of the worry. Release the pressure.
Remember who God is.

He is your refuge. He is your strength. He is present.

What Is Truth? John 18:28–38

In John 18:28–38, Jesus stands before Pilate, calm and unshaken. When asked if He is a king, Jesus replies, “My kingdom is not of this world.”

While Pilate searches for answers, the Truth is standing right in front of him; and he misses it.

How often do we do the same? Looking for truth in the world, while ignoring the voice of God.

Jesus didn’t come to fit into this world; He came to reveal truth and invite us into His Kingdom.

Today, don’t just ask what truth is, follow it.

Lord, may our eyes always be open to recognize Your truth and give us the courage to follow it daily.
Amen. 🙏🏽

Home Daily Bible Reading: "Work and Discipline”

"Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish". Proverbs 12:1

Today’s reading reminds us that growth requires correction. Discipline isn’t punishment, it’s training.

In "Physical Fitness", our bodies grow stronger through consistent effort, correction in form, and daily commitment. Skipping the work shows up in the results.

Through "Spiritual Fitness", our spirits grow stronger when we accept God’s correction, apply wisdom, and stay rooted in His Word. Avoiding correction keeps us stagnant and shows up in the results of our lives.

Proverbs 12 teaches:
• Righteousness brings stability
• Diligence leads to abundance
• Laziness leads to lack
• Wise words bring life
• The fruit of our labor produces reward

Whether in the gym, at work, in business, or in our walk with Christ; discipline produces strength.

Today’s Reflection:
Where do I need to accept correction?
Am I being diligent in both my physical health and spiritual growth?

Let’s commit to doing the work in body and in spirit.

Today was a powerful and meaningful day filled with worship, celebration, remembrance, and education as we gathered to worship God in spirit and in truth. The service reflected the beauty of unity; honoring God while also increasing awareness, knowledge, and understanding of both our faith and our history!

Rev. Hill brought everything together through Scripture, preaching from 2 Corinthians 5:1–7. He reminded us that while we live in earthly bodies that are temporary, our true home is eternal. We are called to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting God even when history, circumstances, or systems attempt to diminish our value or contributions. The message reinforced that God’s truth, justice, and promises stand firm; both in this life and the one to come.

Today's service was a beautiful blend of faith, education, health awareness, and historical truth, reminding us that honoring God includes caring for our bodies, knowing our history, and walking boldly by faith as we move forward together.

Peace and blessings to all.💜
