Dormition of Virgin Mary Philoptochos Society is raising money for all the charities it supports. The charities include Wi******er Rescue Mission, CCAP of Wi******er, Wi******er Area Temporary Transitional Shelter, Bright Futures and VA Medical Center of Martinsburg. We are selling Patricia Georgarakis' icon of Temptation of Anthony the Great for $350. It is a 16" x 13", hand painted and made with real gold leaf. Patricia Georgarakis painted this icon of Temptation of Anthony the Great. Patricia Georgarakis has been painting icons for over 60 years. She has been recognized by Martha Mitchell (Attorney General ‘s Wife to John Mitchell in September of 1971) as well as Betty Ford (President’s wife to Gerald Ford in October 1974) for her outstanding talent in iconography even though she has had no formal art training. Patricia was also recognized by the Washington Evening Star in 1971 for her amazing talent in painting icons. William Willoughy wrote “Their collection of icons will be one of the principal sidelights of what to me is one of the most delightful social events on the Washington calendar year - annual festival of Sts. Constantine and Helen." See less
