CORRECTION: the Pumpkin Patch at Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC, Lexington is actually NOT associated with the Pumpkini Patch Organization, which benefits the Navajo. However, they ARE all LOCAL pumpkins and your purchase of them supports local MA farmers and Pilgrim Cong'l Church. Sorry for my confusion!

As you may have noticed, we will no longer be holding our annual Pumpkin Patch. For numerous reasons, our congregation is not able to continue with this tremendous undertaking. Thank you for 17 years of fun and memories -- and also 17 years of impacting the world for good. The money you spent on pumpkins didn't just stay with our church. We sent at least 65% of the proceeds every year to the Navajo Nation in NM (they grow and ship the pumpkins). Of the portion that the church maintained, the majority went to local organizations (Food Pantry at Council of Social Concern in Woburn; Wi******er High Connect & Commit; McCall After School Programs; Scout Troop 507). Thank you for all of your support! If you would like to continue to supporting the Navajo while buying your pumpkins and gourds, please visit Pilgrim Congregational Church UCC, Lexington -- they participate in the same organization!

The Second Congregational Church Pumpkin Patch: An Alternative -- Adopt A Native Elder (www.anelder.org). Each year, residents of Wi******er and the surrounding communities arrive at Second Congregational Church to purchase pumpkins and gourds. Together we raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Navajo Nation in NM. This year, due to Covid-19, we have had to cancel our Patch. However, we are inviting you to join us in continuing to support the Navajo, whose communities have been so profoundly impacted by Covid-19. Our Native sisters and brothers need our support now more than ever. Please consider how much you would have spent in pumpkins this year and donate a portion of that to Adopt-a-Native-Elder, a highly-rated non-profit that directly aids the people of the Navajo Nation. Find out more and make a donation at www.anelder.org. Thank you, and we hope to see you in 2021!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our annual Pumpkin Patch has been canceled for 2020. We are currently researching other ways to support the Navajo Nation, which has been devastated by COVID. We'll keep you updated! Thanks for your ongoing support, and we'll see you at the Patch in 2021!

What happens when our world falls apart? How do we press onward when our tightly-knit plans unravel into loose threads? What do we become when our identity -- or the path we're on - comes undone? What if all of this is not the end we fear it will be?

In our unraveling, sometimes life surprises us with unexpected joy, love, and hope -- with a new beginning we couldn't have imagined. Sometimes we need God to unravel us, for we long to be changed. ( (c) A Sanctified Art)

Join us for the coming weeks as we consider the theme UNRAVELED: Seeking God When Our Plans Fall Apart.

Worship is online. Please email [email protected] for link information.

A reminder that we are meeting for online worship tomorrow, 3/15, at 10 a.m. We will continue exploring our Lenten theme of wilderness -- and how we meet God there, which seems particularly appropriate in these days. If you'd like to join us, email [email protected] before 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, and we will send you the link to our Zoom room. Be well, and be good to each other. In an effort to do our part to keep the community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic (both within and outside of our walls), we are suspending in-person worship for the rest of March (3/15, 3/22, 3/29). We will reevaluate as the situation unfolds. We WILL worship together each week at 10 am via a video conference. If you would like a link to our virtual church, please message us and we will connect you. If you are in need of pastoral support during these uncertain times, please contact us. Be well, friends. God is with us in the wilderness.
