Had 2 thunderstorms but no rain! Only wind. Don't take this as an analogy for my preaching. Our message is titled "Is It Really That Bad?" Today’s message is based on Colossians 2: 18-23.
Today, we continue with our series from Colossians 2 regarding False Worship and also recognize our Fathers. We will address fathers later on but first we must seek to find what Paul is telling us about false worship, how we are to recognize it and finally, what we must do.
The inspired words before us, given through the Apostle Paul, are presented to us in a particular form. Paul begins with a strong imperative statement: "Let no one cheat you of your reward." Obviously there is a reward, and Paul has given us a clear picture of the believer's reward throughout Colossians chapter one and on into chapter two. The Christian's reward is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Scripture makes a critical fact about these people very clear, and it is a fact that most Bible-believing Christians refuse to face at their peril: Those who insist on bringing these things into the Evangelical church, who seek to establish counterfeit authority, who promote counterfeit worship without repentance, who will not obey the truth, are counterfeit Christians.
Today, take a moment to remember our fathers who have gone before us and to thank those fathers still with us. God’s command is to honor our fathers and mothers, do so today, not with some fancy gift, but with the apparent expressions of love and respect they deserve.
Worship this Sunday! We meet at 11:00 am every Sunday at our new location of 731 Fox Drive, Wi******er. Find a Biblically sound church. If you can't get out, you can heat this message on the radio at 8:00 am on WINC 1400 AM. We are in need of a disciple pianist. Find time to honor your father but especially God!
