“Are You Saved? Yes. Also No. Also, Not Yet.

(The Gospel isn’t instantly microwavable. So, buckle up, buttercup, salvation takes time.)
You’ve probably heard people say, “I’m saved.” Or ask you if you’re saved. Others say, “We’re being saved.” And then someone else pipes up with, “We will be saved.”
Suddenly you’re wondering when, exactly that order of salvation is ready for pick-up.
Well, friend, in the Bible, all three are true.
This means salvation is not your drive-thru Happy Meal but more like a slow-cooked, covenant-seasoned feast that YHWH has been preparing since Genesis. And yes, He will finish what He started (Philippians 1:6) if you let Him.
Let’s break down this holy multi-course meal.
YOU WERE SAVED (Past Tense)
Justification: The “YHWH declared you not guilty” moment is the moment you said yes to Yeshua, and heaven stamped your spiritual paperwork: “Righteous by the blood of the Lamb.”
Let’s check the receipts. Most people will quote from the New Testament here:
• Ephesians 2:8–9 - “You have been saved…” (past tense, baby).
• Romans 5:1 - “Having been justified…”
• Titus 3:5 - “He saved us, not by works…”
But Torah adds some more flavor. Justification isn’t new; YHWH did this from the beginning.
• Genesis 15:6 - Abraham “believed Adonai, and He counted it to him as righteousness.”
This was a legal declaration. A covenant standing. A heavenly verdict. This is the “your debt is paid” stage.
You're wandering through life like an Israelite without a compass, eating spiritual sand, making questionable choices, and pretending you're “doing fine.” Then YHWH shows up - not with a gentle whisper but with a Sinai-sized “Let’s talk.”
Like Abraham minding his own business when YHWH appeared and said, “Pack up. New life starts now.” (Genesis 12:1)
Or Israel in Egypt, hopeless and enslaved, when YHWH basically said, “I pick you. Now watch Me redeem you with a mighty hand and outstretched arm.” (Exodus. 6:6)
That was you when salvation hit.
You didn’t impress YHWH.
You didn’t negotiate terms.
You didn’t arrive spiritually exfoliated and polished.
You believed and YHWH credited it as righteousness. (Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:3)
That moment, whether quiet in your bedroom or loud at an altar call, was your Passover night. Blood applied. Judgment passing over. Heaven marking your door: “Belongs to Me.”
This is justification - past tense salvation. YHWH declaring: “Not guilty. Mine. Covered by the Lamb.” (Romans 5:1, Titus 3:5)
It’s not earned. It’s not worked for. It’s simply received, like Israel receiving freedom they absolutely did not earn.
Congratulations, you crossed the Red Sea, darling. But don’t get comfy. The story is just getting started.
YOU ARE BEING SAVED (Present Tense)
Sanctification is YHWH’s ongoing “renovation project” on your soul.
Yes, you’re saved. But you’re also a work in progress. Still spiky, still messy, still needing YHWH’s “grace and sandpaper” ministry.
This is not YHWH being indecisive, this is YHWH being faithful.
New Testament receipts:
• 1 Corinthians 1:18 - “To us who are being saved…”
• Philippians 2:12–13 - “Work out your salvation… …for it is YHWH who works in you.”
YHWH has always been in the “daily salvation” business. Torah receipts:
• Exodus 14:13 - “Stand still and see the salvation (Yeshua) of YHWH.”
• Psalm 51:10 - David begging, “Create in me a clean heart…”
This stage is like YHWH looking at your heart and saying, “I saved you, now let’s fix the plumbing, repaint the soul, tear out the mold, and deal with that emotional attic full of junk.” Interior construction is salvation in motion. He’s not mad. He’s renovating.
Welcome to the “Wilderness Renovation Program”
So there you are - justified, forgiven, spiritually born again. And YHWH says, “Perfect. Now let’s deal with you.” Cue the book of Numbers...
Because salvation isn’t just YHWH delivering you from something. It’s Him delivering you into something. And between “saved from Egypt” and “entering the Promised Land” is wilderness sanctification.
The stage where YHWH says: “I love you, but we need to talk about your attitude and a few other things...”
Sanctification is the lifelong process of YHWH pulling Egypt out of you. He saved Israel in one night, but it took 40 years to get the idolatry, fear, complaining, and golden-calf tendencies out of their hearts. Sound familiar?
This is the season where YHWH refines you through hard conversations, conviction of the Spirit, trials that shake loose your old habits, temptations that reveal what’s undealt with, scripture that reads you more than you read it, and prayers that feel like wrestling matches (ask Jacob!).
Paul puts it bluntly: “You are being saved.” (1 Corinthians 1:18). David cried out: “Create in me a clean heart…”
(Psalm 51:10)
Translation: “YHWH, please renovate me. And maybe bring a spiritual dumpster.”
Sanctification is the holy renovation project you did not realize you signed up for. It’s YHWH knocking down the walls you built. It’s Him rewiring your heart’s circuitry. It’s Him saying, “Let’s remove the mold of bitterness, the termites of pride, and the faulty theology from that 1990s youth-group conference.”
It’s messy. It’s beautiful. It’s evidence that salvation is not a one-night escape - it’s a lifelong transformation.
YOU WILL BE SAVED (Future Tense)
Glorification is The Grand Finale where YHWH fixes EVERYTHING.
Yes, beloved, there is more. Your salvation has a future that is brighter than your favorite worship band’s stage lighting.
This is when Messiah returns, graves open, bodies are upgraded out of their earthly warranty, and the Kingdom finally rolls in like YHWH promised since literally Deuteronomy.
New Testament references:
• Romans 13:11 - “Our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.”
• 1 Peter 1:5 - “A salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
The Torah truth is that Israel wasn’t waiting for heaven - they were waiting for resurrection and Kingdom on earth.
• Daniel 12:2–3 - The dead shall arise.
• Isaiah 26:19 - “Your dead shall live…”
• Job 19:26 - “In my flesh I shall see YHWH.”
Glorification is YHWH completing the breathtaking plan He started in Genesis… …humans made in His image, ruling creation with Him, sin gone, death evicted, and no more spiritual band-aids.
If justification is Passover… …and sanctification is the wilderness… …then glorification (future salvation) is the Promised Land.
The prophets saw it with dry bones rising (Ezekiel 37), the dead awakening to joy (Isaiah 26:19) and multitudes resurrected at the end of the age (Daniel 12:2–3).
The apostles echoed it. “Salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:5), “we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:52) and “we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”(Romans 5:9).
This is the moment when YHWH finishes the masterpiece. Your body gets upgraded to the resurrection model, sin is evicted permanently, death is reversed, messiah reigns on earth, heaven comes down and creation is restored. You finally become who He saw from the beginning.
This isn’t floating in heaven forever. This is the redeemed creation YHWH promised in Torah -the land, the Kingdom, the Messianic reign.
It’s the final chapter of the salvation trilogy, where YHWH says: “I finished it. All of it.”
Salvation isn’t one moment: it’s a covenant story arc. A saga. A divine trilogy with no plot holes.
When YHWH saves you, He doesn’t do a halfway job. He doesn’t forgive you and then leave you to duct-tape your character together. He doesn’t raise you spiritually only to let your body rot forever. He saves the whole person - past, present, and future, (spirit, soul and body).
Salvation is not:
“Say a prayer and you’re done.”
“Try harder or YHWH will drop you.”
“Endure life until heaven beams you up.”
Salvation is:
YhWH saving you from sin’s penalty (Past - Justification)
YhWH saving you from sin’s power (Present -Sanctification)
YhWH saving you from sin’s presence (Future - Glorification)
It’s one story, not three salvations, but one salvation unfolding in three holy dimensions.
So, the next time someone asks you if you’re saved, go ahead and smile like you’ve got the whole Word of YHWH tucked in your heart and say:
“I was saved, I’m being saved, and I will be saved. YHWH doesn’t do half-work - He finishes everything He starts.”
And if they look confused? Gently invite them into the wilderness classroom where YHWH does His best work.
