Hello everyone! I pray all is well with you, family, and friend. This week, 10/02/22, we have our free breakfast fellowship at 10:00 am. We continue our study of that “age old question” why does God allow evil to exist? This Sunday we look at reason # 3: To strengthen and teach His people. We will look at the story of King David when an evil spirit enters Saul and causes him to try to kill King David, and how Jesus struggled just hours before His arrest and crucifixion and how God sent an angel to strengthen Him, and the role evil played in His death on the cross and where we would be if evil hadn't existed to hang Jesus on the cross.
All are invited to come worship and learn with us at White River Friends Church 640 N 100 E Wi******er, IN 47394. Sunday School begins at 9:30 am fellowship at 10:00 am and the service begins at 10:30 am.

Hello everyone, I pray all is well with you and your family. It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted, problems arrive and life gets hectic, but that should come as no surprise since Jesus warned us, we would have trials and tribulations.

To get you up to date, last week, 9/11/22, we finished our study of Micah and this Sunday, 9/18/22, we begin our quest to answer that “age old question,” why does a loving God allow evil to continue, and seemingly to prosper at times?

We will study reasons one and two this week:

1. To bring judgment.
2. He knows the end of the wicked.

We will study Old Testament accounts of when God used a wicked nation to bring judgment on another nation. And we will see the final destination of the wicked as we study question 2, “But the wicked shall perish; And the enemies of the LORD, Like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away” (Ps. 37:20).

Our third question this week: does God use righteous nations to bring judgment to an evil nation?
All are invited to come worship and learn with us, White River Friends Church, 640 N. 100 E. Wi******er, Indianan, 47394. Service begins at 10:30 am.

Jim

Hello everyone! Pray all have had a good week. This final Sunday of August at White River Friends Church, we continue our study of the O.T. prophet Micah and seek answers to that “age old question,” why does God allow evil to continue on earth? We have discovered a couple of reasons so far in our study and will end our series with a study of each one we find.

This week, 08/28/22, we study chapter 3, where Micah confronts the leaders of Israel and Judah and prophecies the destruction of Jerusalem which takes place when Nebuchadnezzar reduces Jerusalem to rubble in 586 BC (Cf. Jeremiah 26:18).

All are invited to come and seek answers with us. We are not a large church, we don’t have a large modern facility, a loud worship team, coffee in the atrium, but the one thing we do have and the most important is love for each other and for the lost.

Come ready to worship and learn with us at WRF church 640 N 100 E Wi******er, IN 47493, service begins at 10:30 am.
Pastor,
Jim

Hello everyone! Pray all have had a good week, mine has been a week of mixed reviews, but I am enjoying the cooler less humid weather here in central Indiana. In our message this Sunday, 08/14/22, we begin a study of the O.T. book of Micah where we are going to attempt to answer the age-old question, “Why do wicked people prosper, good people struggle, and what awaits each in the future.” In chapter one Micah warns Samaria and Jerusalem, the northern and southern capitals of Israel after the split in Solomon’s day, that God’s judgment is coming by way of the wicked nation of the Assyrians.
I hope you will come and check us out, White River Friends Church, 640 N 100 E Wi******er, IN 47394.

Hello everyone! I want to say a special hello to my international Facebook friends today; I know you are unable to visit our church, but I hope you will include us in your prayers this week, and God bless you all.

This Sunday, 07/24/22, at White River Friends Church in beautiful Wi******er, Indiana 47394 we finish our study on the Book of Jonah with chapter four. As we find Jonah once again feeling sorry for himself.

As God often does, he used this teaching moment to take Jonah to a place of reality: looking inside his own heart to understand how spiritually messed up his heart and mind were. Jonah is more concerned about the destruction of a plant which has no soul and comes and goes like most other plants: here today and gone tomorrow, then he is about the death of thousands and thousands of men, women, and including 120,000 children who are considered sinless in God’s eyes,

But the LORD said, “You have had pity on the plant for which you have not labored, nor made it grow, which came up in a night and perished in a night. “And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left—and much livestock?” (Jonah 4: 10, 11).

There is so much to learn in this one little chapter of the O.T. I want to invite all to come worship and learn with us. WRF 640 N 100 E Wi******er, IN 47394. Sunday school starts at 9:30 am, service begins at 10:30 am.

Hope to see you Sunday,
Pastor,
Jim

Hello everyone! Pray all is well with family and friends. This week at White River Friends Church, we continue our study of Jonah chapter three where Jonah heads to Nineveh to warn them of the disaster that’s coming if they don’t repent. To their credit they repented in sack cloth and ashes and called for a city wide fast.

God sees their sincere repentance and relents from destroying the city. Jonah surely was excited about his success in reaching the Ninevites with this message of salvation from God-or was he? The truth is, even though Jonah did what God commanded him to do his heart wasn’t in it. This leads us into chapter four where Jonah learns some valuable lessons as God reveals Jonah’s own sin and his unworthiness to judge others. A lesson we should all learn.

All are invited to come worship and learn with us at WRF 640 N 100 E Wi******er, Indiana 47394--service begins at 10:30 am.

Pastor,
Jim

Howdy friends! I pray all had a great week and those needing rain got some, it rained pretty good where I live yesterday-much needed. This week at White River Friends Church we study the second chapter of Jonah where we find Jonah in a big fish’s belly-not a happy place to be, I’m sure. Often in our own disobedience, God puts us in an uncomfortable place to get us to come to the same conclusions Jonah came to.

1. He is in there because of his own sin.
2. He realizes his helplessness in that situation.
3. He realizes only God can save him.
4. He repents of his sin and recommits to serve the Lord.

There is much to learn in the Book of Jonah that relates to our own experience and humanness. All are welcome to come worship and learn with us. Service begins at 10:30 am at White River Friends Church, 640 N. 100 E. Wi******er, Indiana 47394. Sunday school starts at 9:30 am.

Hello everyone! I pray all is well with you and your family. This week at White River Friends we learn of the importance of perseverance (patience) in our Christ walk. Can you name some of the things the Bible implies we should persevere through? Here’s a short list: evil, temptation, false teaching, hard times, draughts and famine, sin, trials, persecutions--it’s an endless list?
Every aspect of the Christian life revolves around perseverance: hanging onto your faith no matter what circumstances surround you. So how do we develop perseverance? This Sunday, 06/26/22, we are going to discuss four ways we can strengthen our perseverance:

1. Through spiritual growth.
2. Through spiritual fruitfulness.
3. By putting on God’s armor.
4. Through God’s chastening.

The Christian life is about perseverance: not giving up when the going gets tough.

Steadfastness +persistence = perseverance! And perseverance = victory!!!

There’s an Old Japanese proverb that says, “When you fall down seven times, you get up eight.” And take to heart the advice of Franklin D. Roosevelt, “When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.”- Franklin D. Roosevelt

All are invited to come to worship and learn from God’s word. Sunday school begins at 9:30 am and the worship service begins at 10:30 am. Come with a friend. White River Friends Church 640 N. 100 E Wi******er, Indiana 47394.

05/21/2022

Hello everyone, this Sunday, 05/21/22, at White River Friends we continue our series on faith. We are going to learn about four things we need to do in order to grow in our faith.

1. Stand fast in our faith (cf. 1 Cor. 16:13.)
2. Continue in our faith (cf. Acts 14:22).
3. Abound in our faith (cf.2 Cor. 8:7).
4. Be grounded in our faith (cf. Col. 1:23).

The common theme in this message is that our unwavering faith must be put in the unfailing love of Christ for us. We must trust Him above all else, no matter the situation we must stand firm unmovable in the face of adversity; showering our faith upon Him knowing that His will for us is only good, “I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thoughts of peace not of evil to give you and expected end” (Jer. 29:11).

Come join us this Sunday at WRF for worship, fellowship, and to hear the rest of this encouraging message. Service begins at 10:30 am at 640 N 100 E Wi******er, IN 47394.

Jim

Hello everyone! This Sunday, 05/08/22, at White River Friends we celebrate Mother’s in the name of Jesus. I want to invite all of you especially Mothers and grandmothers to our Mother’s Day service.

I want to share a poem with you I wrote as I was thinking about my mom on her birthday years after her passing. Even though the pain of losing your mom never goes away, I know she is with Jesus, and I will see her again.

Today’s my mom’s birthday
She would have turned eighty-one
Moms, are such great fun,
Laughing and loving though their work is not done.
All the little things they do.
Mom! Help me tie my shoe!
She’s always been there, as her amazing love shines through.
So little time we spend with them as we grow.
Time goes so quickly and now they must go.
For God calls them home, but
Moms never really leave us alone.
The memories that we have of them are so real,
They are treasures that no one can steal.
Through the cuts and the bruises; and broken hearts too.
Moms were always there to help us feel and pull us through.
Jesus said, “The greatest love is to lay down your life for a friend…”
Mother’s do this and expect nothing in the end,
Oh! What marvelous times we did spend.
Thank you, God, for moms! They love us until the end.

All are invited to come and honor mothers this Sunday at WRF; service begins at 10:30 am at 640 N 100 E Wi******er, IN 47394.

Jim

Hello everyone! Pray all is well with you and your family. April is almost over as we begin the merry month of May this Sunday, 5/01/22, time does go quickly, so we need to make the best of it for the kingdom of God. This Sunday at White River Friends not only is it the first day of May, but it is our fellowship Sunday when we gather to have coffee, donuts, fruit and fruit juices, and great fellowship. All are invited. Fellowship begins at 10:00 am. Followed by our worship service.

This Sunday we begin a mini-series on faith, the very foundation of our Christian lives.
Faith is knowing in your heart that God’s promises are reliable, stable, firm, and concretely meant to support or to uphold. Faith is trusting in God’s word and His promises knowing that He can and will fulfill His promises to us. Our faith holds us up, it gives us strength and hope in the toughest of times. Faith and hope are an intricate part of a believer’s life. The two work together hand-in-hand to fulfill God’s purposes and His promises in the lives of His people. The basis for our faith is trusting in the reliability of God’s word and His ability to accomplish what He promised: believing without a doubt that Jesus will return again to bring God’s chosen one’s home to him. Will you be ready when Jesus returns?

Come join us this Sunday at WRF for great fellowship, worship, and learning at 640 N 100 E. Wi******er, Indiana 47394.

Jim
