Matthew 28:20 comes at the very end of Matthew’s Gospel, in what we usually call the Great Commission.

After Jesus rose from the dead, He met His disciples in Galilee. These were the same disciples who had scattered, doubted, failed, and were probably still trying to process everything that had happened. Then Jesus tells them:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
Matthew 28:18

Then He gives them the mission:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
Matthew 28:19

And then comes the promise:

“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20

So the context is not just general comfort, although it is definitely comforting. It is specifically Jesus promising His presence as His people carry out His mission.

Jesus has all authority.
Jesus sends His followers to make disciples.
Jesus promises they will not go alone.

That makes the verse powerful because Jesus does not just give them an assignment. He gives them His presence.

Matthew 28:20 reminds us that Jesus does not send us into the world alone. The same Savior who calls us to make disciples also promises to be with us every step of the way.🙌

What a powerful message from Pastor Lee this Sunday.

Through the story of Moses and the burning bush, we were reminded that before Moses ever stepped into the miracle, he first stepped into the presence of God.

This week, let’s be faithful and step closer to His presence and trust Him with what comes next. Let's have the confidence that the great I AM will always be with us.
