Amigos could not run without our amazing volunteers. Ashley is a 9th grader and a part of our AMP College and Career Readiness program at WHS.

She has been volunteering since 8th grade and is now our regular Monday stocker. 🙌💗

We were gifted four large boxes of food for our Mercado food pantry today!

Thank you to St.Mary’s Catholic Church for always supporting our mission at Amigos.
In addition to our biweekly food pantry that is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, our small porch pantry is open 24 hours a day.

Take what you need and leave what you can!

We can always use an extra amigo at our Mercado Food Pantry! Shifts are on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am–12:30pm. It's easy, flexible, and helps us greatly in our mission. It's also a great team and a lot of fun!

Check out our schedule and sign up for a shift. No intense training — we'll show you the ropes on your first day. Volunteer as much or as little as your schedule allows.

We are excited to be back on the WHS campus again this year to help students with college and career readiness!

Our first meeting of the fall is 9/16 - we can’t wait to catch up and kick off another year together.

Some of our Amigos Ambassadors volunteered at the Barnabas Back to School Fiesta this weekend.
Amigos Ambassadors are AMP graduates and Amigos scholarship recipients — young people who came through our program, are now in college, and choose to come back and give to the students behind them.
We were at Barnabas to run a resource booth, connecting families with our Mercado Food Pantry and letting them know about AMP College & Career Readiness at Wimberley High School.
Having Ambassadors at the table meant future AMP students and their parents could talk to someone who was in their shoes just a couple years ago. Now they are in college at UT, UTSA, Texas State, Concordia, and ACC among other schools and they are able to share their best tips and encourage students.
That's the whole model: students who got help become the ones offering it. We are grateful for our Ambassadors and for Barnabas for having us!

This week, our amazing AMP senior leaders were busy welcoming our newest Amigos! 🧡 They hosted our first annual AMP Summer Social for rising freshman and showed up at WHS freshman orientation to introduce incoming 9th graders to AMP College & Career Readiness.

AMP is not just about college and career readiness- though we do have that covered! It’s about having a place to hang out, connect, and build a community while finding a path that fits you.

Thanks to our leaders! It will be a great year 🙌🤩

Did you know? In addition to our bi-weekly food pantry, Amigos stocks a 24-hour porch pantry that holds nonperishable goods. We rely heavily on donations of food and snacks to keep this pantry full. If you have any extra to share, please drop off donations any time — the small pantry is right on the porch, ready to be filled.

Items in need: granola bars, canned goods, clean socks, pasta, cereal, etc.

Meet Jade and Mariela — two of our Amigos Ambassadors, now pre-nursing students at Texas State!
As Ambassadors, they don't just get support from AMP — they give back, too, mentoring current students and volunteering at Amigos/AMP events. This week, that meant hands-on experience: shadowing community nurse Amy Adams at the Mercado, practicing blood pressure checks and learning about insulin care.
This is what the Amigos Ambassador Program is about — the relationship keeps going both ways. Good job!

Summer does not mean learning stops! I met up with some of our former AMP College & Career students and now graduates of WHS at the library to set goals for work, school and life. AMP is a network that provides support to students after they graduate. And now, as Amigos Ambassadors, these young women serve Amigos at our food pantry and AMP events. Good job ladies!
