The Temple-Wilton Community Farm was founded in 1986. Our dairy herd, chickens, and vegetable fields have provided biodynamically grown food and nourishment of the spirit for a community of about 100 families who support the farm in many ways. Since we moved to Four Corners on Abbott Hill about 20 years ago, this community, led by the founding farmers, has cared for more than 150 acres of pasture, woods, hayfield, and gardens.
Now we are working to make the farm sustainable as we move into an era shaped by the climate disruptions and economic and political uncertainties affecting the whole world. We are welcoming a new generation of farmers to Abbott Hill, and making sure that our land stewardship is not only strategically wise but also imaginative. We are opening up a few new acres on our New Hampshire hilltop, and improving working conditions for our farmers and their apprentices.
We are appealing this year for your help to address two urgent challenges which will move us far towards our strategic goals, if we can meet them.
First, we need to upgrade our irrigation system and related utilities. to bring water economically to our new fields.
Second, we need to construct new apprentice housing for 3-4 apprentices working for with our dairy and vegetable farmers, and with the Abbott Hill Creamery, which is becoming well known for its artisanal cheeses and other products. While much of the labor for these projects will be donated by the farmers and community members, we seek help with the costs of materials and supplies.
This Giving Tuesday, can you help move the farm forward in the future with a donation towards these projects: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=ED2KRS6U3WG4L
You can also help out by sharing this with friends and family.
Thank you very much!
