Greetings. Happy Friday.

As I have said before, the first Friday of the month is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. But today we celebrated the Feast of the Most Sacred Heat of Jesus.

Many a saint has given us much to ponder on in regard to the Sacred Heart.
Today we turn to St. Francis de Sale and his thoughts. He tells us, "Surely it is a source of profound consolation to know that we are loved so deeply by our Lord, who constantly carries us in his heart."

How does one who is loved so much, so deeply as Jesus loves each man and women who has ever been or will be, not respond in like kind. Our love, no matter how deep could ever come close to the love Jesus has for us. Yet Jesus is always there to give whatever we need.

"Oh, Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us."

Hello. Hope your week is going along well.

Today we remember one of the chosen twelve, St. Barnabas. He was a Jew from Cyprus. Barabas was the one who introduced St. Paul to St. Peter and the other apostles. It is said that he served as a kind of mentor to Paul and the Christians who saw Paul as one who persecuted the Church.

St. Barnabas gives us this thought today. "Without grace there is no hope, but with it there is no shortage." We are able to see this saying come to fulfillment in the person of Paul as he becomes the Apostles to the Gentiles.

As we try to live out our Christian life, let us keep in mind that as much as we wish to live a good Christian life, we cannot do it alone. We need to pray for the grace to overcome the temptations that call us to live in a very different way. It is that virtue of HOPE that gives us the strength to live as Christ calls us to live by loving one another,

Greetings, hope all goes well.

As mentioned last week, we have come into that time between holidays which we call "Ordinary Time." As I said before, this is by no means "ordinary" time. This is an opportunity to reflect and grow in light of the celebrations of the birth and the resurrection of the Lord.

I do believe that there is no "ordinary time" in the Kingdom of God. Anything we do, we do to build up this Kingdom here on earth. This is a Kingdom of peace and acceptance. And we need not look far to see that these two elements are sourly needed in our world today.

St. Thomas More, (1478-1535) was the Chancellor of England under Henry XIII. He disagreed with the king on several subjects that Thomas felt went against the teachings of the Church. Because of this he was martyred for the faith. He reminds us today, "No ordinary act we practice every day at home are of more importance to the soul than their simplicity might suggest."

The Kingdom of God is built one stone at a time. Every ack of kindness to another, every act of charity is another stone that goes into the building of the Kingdom.

Greetings to you all. I hope all is well with you and your families.

I am sure that we all have had those days when we find ourselves getting bored with what we are do. The same job, the same housework, the same thing on a Tuesday night for dinner and the list can go on and on. It is like we are on autopilot and don't have to think about what we are doing.

But it does not have to be like that. It is all the way we look at our lives and the work we are about. Sometimes we can find joy and challenge in our lives just by looking at what we do in just a different way. Change "Toco Tuesday" to Thursday. Challenge ourselves to find another way to do that which we have been doing the same way all our lives. We need to remember that we are more that what we do.

E.F. Schumachar, an economist and statistician says, "Our ordinary minds always tries to persuade us that we are nothing, but acorns and our greatest happiness will be to become bigger, fatter, shinier acorns, but that is of interest only to pigs. Our faith gives us knowledge of something better: that we can become oak trees."

We all have special gifts given us by God. To some they may be very ordinary, but when put to the service of another, we just might become "Another Christ" to that person.

May we all take another look at who we are, and the gifts God has given us. Let us see how we may be able to put these gifts to the service of another, even if it is a good meatball. As I told someone at a wake service who related that the woman who pass away was a neighbor and she took him in when he was locked out of his house and made him some pasta and meatballs, I told him, "A good meatball can cover a multitude of sins."

Greetings, hope all is well.

And here we are in Ordinary Time once again. Time waits for no one.

Ordinary time may make us feel like we are just that "Ordinary". But when we look at it we could not be further from the truth. Yes, we can be ordinary if we so wish. But that is up to us and how we look at who and what we are.

Martin Luther reminds us, "Every occupation has its own honor before God. Ordinary work is a divine vocation or calling. In our daily work no matter how important of mundane we serve God by serving the neighbor and we also participate in God's on - going providence for the human race."

Ordinariness can be a state of mind. We and only WE can change that. We can begin to see that whatever work we are about it is about building up the Kingdom of God here on earth.
