Almost everyone has a loved one who has experienced an overdose (fatal or nonfatal) or has a substance use disorder (SUD). Today we recognize the great losses that have occurred in the lives of families due to overdose and SUD. We remember those who have lost their lives to overdose. We also rejoice with those who have successfully completed treatment and are in recovery. For those who need help, please know there are many resources for prevention, treatment, and recovery. Reach out to Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition and get connected to those resources.

I used to wonder why I cried every time I worshipped.

Nothing was wrong.
I wasn’t sad.
Sometimes I’d walk into church completely fine, the music would start, and suddenly tears were streaming down my face.

I thought, Why am I so emotional?
But the closer I’ve gotten to God, the more I understand…

Sometimes your soul recognizes His presence before your mind can even put words to what you’re feeling.

Those tears aren’t always sadness.

Sometimes they’re surrender.
Sometimes they’re relief.
Sometimes they’re healing.
Sometimes they’re gratitude.
Sometimes it’s the weight you’ve been carrying finally falling at His feet.

There are moments during worship when I don’t even have a prayer.
I just cry.

Because when you’ve been through seasons where God was the ONLY reason you made it through, worship hits differently.

So if you’re the person crying during worship while everyone else seems perfectly fine…
Let the tears fall.

You don’t have to explain what happens in your heart when you’re in the presence of the One who knows every part of it. ❤️

It's Parent Appreciation Day! The Bible is clear about how we are to treat our parents. The fifth commandment says, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12). This commandment, and the blessing attached to it, are repeated throughout the old and new testaments.
