I know unless it’s your significant other, your kid, or someone is a little narcissistic; folks don’t usually tell you what they want for their birthday.
Me, I do.
Why?
It’s not really for me.

For the 14th year in a row, I’m celebrating my birthday by begging for a $25 donation to provide a backpack (filled with the essentials) for a needy child in Wilson. Each year we’ve had an opportunity to provide more than 400 backpacks before school begins.

The goal is 550 this year for my 55th year of life. Growing up in a household where there wasn’t much “extra” my parents ALWAYS made sure I had new notebooks, paper and pencils. To this day, I still love freshly sharpened pencils, new crayons and just walking through the school supply section at any store. Staples is like a trip to Disney...... almost.

My point is, every child deserves to start the school year with the essentials. Would you be willing to partner with me to make this happen?

First Christian staff is making a blueberry run combined with a staff retreat!
Refer to the image to look at the ways to order and options to buy! These are a great summer treat and can easily be frozen!

The only string attached is that I ask that Rev. Morgan asks you to donate one pint of your berries to Hope Station for distribution for people who don’t have a minister with a deep, abiding love for blueberries and his parishioners!

Help us congratulate Emory Skinner for being chosen by the Wilson Times as the Farris and Thomas Law Female Athlete of the Year!!

Emory has put together quite a string of accolades in sports while maintaining an impressive academic record. She is also active in church, including teaching Sunday School.
Some of her accomplishments include:
• All-Conference selection in all four sports which she played as a senior.
• NCHSAA 5-A girls tennis doubles champion.
• a 4.6 GPA and a No. 7 senior class ranking
• four-year starter in basketball, soccer and tennis while spearheading Fike’s first girls flag football team last fall.

Emory will be recognized this Sunday in worship in graduation worship (and playing guitar!). CONGRATS, Em!

We had a GREAT time at the May Fellowship dinner! We have another one lining up for June and we hope you will mark it down! Fellowship dinners definitely have some incredible food involved, but you more importantly, relationships grow deeper and new ones begin! We are grateful for such a great hospitality team that is looking forward to continuing these!
