What must I do to be saved

09/02/2026

Every house that Eric and I have lived in, we did renovation. I like to go into a house that others pass over and see the potential in fixing it up. Whether it be new flooring, paint, new sinks, tearing out old and bringing in new. I love to see the results. It takes time and patience, but in the end, it's worth it all.

Yesterday, while driving home from town, I got to thinking about prayer. Sometimes it's so hard to wait for an answer. Just like refurbishing a home, you start with disarray and end up with great results. So what happens between the prayer and the answer?

When we bring a prayer request to God, he starts the renovation needed, so to speak. He knows the steps that need to be taken in order for the best results. Sometimes its done quickly and other times it takes time for all the proper steps to take place. You can't rush God when it comes to prayer. He knows what is best and his timing is perfect. He is never too late and he is never too early. He is right on time, every time.

Just like the changes that need to be made while renovating, God is working before we even ask, to bring us to a beautiful place that he has planned for us. So what is happening between the prayer and the answer? Total renovation. Be patient and wait. You are his priority.

Have you ever watched a cat sneak up on something? He gets something in his sight, then he gets really close to the ground while very slowly taking a few steps. He stops, waits a moment, then continues sneaking up on whatever he has in his sight. The prey has no idea it's being targeted.

It brings to mind how Satan is more cunning and powerful than we are and has one plan in mind......destruction! He is out to destroy marriages, families, churches and lives anyway that he can. To accomplish his plan, he lays traps, waits for the perfect opportunity and preys on our weaknesses and blind spots.

It is easy for us to become busy and preoccupied with our lives. When this happens, we let our guard down. It is at that moment when Satan has an open door to attack. We, by ourself, are no match for him. The good news is, we don’t have to rely on ourselves. We have Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords to help us. We need to stay in His word and be ready when an attack comes. Although our enemy is ruthless, we do not need to be afraid. But it is important for us to take it seriously and never to forget we have an enemy.

I Peter 5:8 says, "Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

We all have times when something or someone in our life disappears. Something that we relied on is gone and it has shaken us to the core. It could be the loss of someone we loved, a job, or even our health may be fading. Whatever it is makes us feel like we are off balance, so to speak.

You might even think that God has abandoned you. Its in those times you need to remember that God's presence is real. He continually watches over you. As I sit here, my comfort is knowing Jesus holds my hand. He never lets go of His grip no matter how much Satan tries to hurt or discourage.

If you are reading this, just remember, you shouldn't be asking where is God, but where isn't He?

Psalm 34:15 says, "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry."

Have you ever tried to do the right things but got blind-sided from someone? Or continually ridiculed for no reason?

Jesus could have stopped all the insults, pain, and suffering with one call to his angels who would have wiped out everything and everyone. But if He had done that, we would have lost the chance to be saved. Jesus took the punishment (that we deserved) in order to sacrifice Himself so we could be saved with those who believe in Him.

Let’s pray that we would have the faith to not strike back...... to know that God will use us in a mighty way. Don't let situations ruin your testimony and what God is doing in your life. This is what Jesus would do. He would pray for those who persecute him. Wouldn't it be a shame if we let our pride get in the way of helping others come to know the Lord?

The next time things seem out of control.... Pray!! And the next time someone throws insults at you.....Pray for them!!! It isn't always easy, but God wants us to be more like Jesus. Let Him take control of the situation!

"When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly." 1 Peter 2:23

"When god makes the impossible "

When we go through suffering and hardship, it can be very challenging. I have had some really difficult times in my life, yet the fellowship I have had with God has never been sweeter. I have never been more dependent on Him as I am today.

There are times I don't think I can handle it, and then God gives me the strength that I need. I have learned things that I would not have learned anywhere else. I don't know the "why" of it all, but I trust God, cling to Him, and rely on Him.

What about you? Are you going through some difficult times? Do you feel like you can't go on? Let Jesus walk you through your difficult times. Notice I said "through" your difficult times. You will make it. God promises in His word that He will never leave you nor forsake you. There is no greater comfort!
