America Celebrates 250 Years!
A Message from Bishop Brown

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we give thanks for the wisdom and vision of our founders that have given birth to the many blessings of freedom we enjoy today.

As we mark this festive day, let us remember that our ultimate freedom will not ever be determined only by the liberties we cherish as a nation, but rather by the love of God revealed to the world through Jesus Christ. "If the Son makes you free," Jesus says in John 8, "you will be free indeed."

May the light of Christ and the call to freedom in his love shine across our land and across the world.

Wishing you a safe and blessed Independence Day.

—Bishop Kevin S. Brown

Independence Day Collect

For the Nation:
Lord God Almighty, you have made all the peoples of the earth for your glory, to serve you in freedom and in peace: Give to the people of our country a zeal for justice and the strength of forbearance, that we may use our liberty in accordance with your gracious will; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
