Honoring Union Veterans at Mount Salem United Methodist Church & Cemetery

Event Details
• Date: Sunday, May 24, 2026
• Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Picnic lunch to follow)
• Location: Mount Salem United Methodist Church & Cemetery
(adjacent to Rockford Park), 2629 West 19th St., Wilmington, DE 19806.

• Admission: Free and open to the public.

All community members, history enthusiasts, and families are welcome to attend this meaningful tribute to our nation's history and heroes.

This year’s ceremony features a deeply personal connection to the past, as descendants of the veterans will travel to participate in the services and honor their ancestors.

Event Schedule
• 11:00 AM – Church Service: The event will commence with a memorial service inside the church.
• Wreath-Laying Ceremony: Following the service, a formal wreath-laying will take place at the statue of Rear Admiral Samuel DuPont in neighboring Rockford Park.
• Cemetery Procession & Remembrance: Attendees will proceed to Mount Salem Cemetery, located across the street, where the lives and legacies of several local Union veterans will be highlighted.
• Picnic Lunch: The day’s events will conclude with a community picnic lunch shared in the church hall.
