Bethel Baptist Church

Bethel Baptist Church To reflect God's infinite worth through Christ, for the glory of his name and the good of all peoples He has served us far better than we deserve.

Bethel Baptist Church is a community of people (not a building); we are a spiritual family (not a club). We are here in Wilmington because God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to seek and save lost sinners. Jesus has changed us and is changing us, and he has filled us with his love and grace and truth. He gave his life for us! When his love starts to fill your life, you want to pour it out for others.

So, though we certainly hope this page serves you, please know that we would love to serve you! We invite you to join us when we gather. Come and get to know us; we would love to get to know you. But most of all, we want you to know Jesus, the one who can really serve you! He “came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mk 10:45).

It’s okay to cry…
This summer our ladies group is going through a study of Mark Vroegop’s book Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy: Discovering the Grace of Lament. He wisely writes that “to cry is human, to lament is Christian.” In his book he walks readers through the concept of biblical lament and provides rich scripture to remind us of the hope we have in our God who freely extends mercy, love, and grace to all who call on Him!

In this week's sermon we took a look at Revelation 4 and the King in His heavenly throne room. If you were unable to join us this Sunday you can follow the link to our YouTube channel and hear Pastor Jeff unfold the glory of the throne room and what it means to worship our holy Creator King!

Wow our churches and community have shown up in an amazing way! A Door of Hope Pregnancy Center referred one of their clients through CarePortal who just had a baby and was struggling to care for herself and the baby due to medical conditions. They asked for help with meals and groceries and our volunteers did not disappoint!

❤️Jennifer bought the groceries pictured and delivered them, offering continued support as well.

❤️Angie at Bethel Baptist Church organized a meal train and the mom is getting meals a few times a week for two weeks.

❤️She is getting connected to a moms group at Brandywine Valley Church because she wants community.

This mom is getting tangible support, but more than that she’s getting connected to people in the local church who care about her and her baby. A part of solving the foster care crisis starts with supporting bio families so that parents can care for their children. We need each other because connection can change everything ❤️

Bethel supports the Foster Closet at faith with both people and funds.

Hey! Is that Angie behind Jen?

Grateful for our partner orgs and churches who respond to needs of families!

Pictured is Jen from Faith Presbyterian Church who volunteers in the Faith Foster closet. They respond regularly through CarePortal when their closet can provide items for families referred to us. Just this weekend she responded to a need for children being reunited with their biological mom.

The Faith Foster Closet, in partnership with Family Hope Coalition, offers baby items, bedding, toys, books, and more. Once a month foster and kinship families can come and shop for free. Please spread the word to foster and kinship families about this awesome resource!

Here's their page with more info: www.faithwilmington.com/connect/foster-closet

Pictured is some of our wonderful volunteers from our partner churches who joined us for our NCC CarePortal gathering this past Tuesday!

One of my favorite parts of these meetings is hearing how different churches collaborate, how we all share resources, and no one is there for recognition for their church.

We spent our time sharing updates, doing some training, getting feedback on how things are going with their teams, and brainstorming how to better serve the children and families.

We had volunteers from Bethel Baptist Church, Brandywine Valley Church, Faith Presbyterian Church, and CityLight Vineyard Church!

Thank you to Faith Presbyterian for hosting us and for being such a great partner with your foster closet! If you’d like your church to be a part of serving vulnerable children and families in your community, message us!

A call for assistance with clearing the sidewalks went out around 9:30 this morning. By 10:30, this crew had gathered and immediately got to work. The sidewalks were fully cleared by approximately 11:30. We are very grateful for everyone who responded so quickly and served so faithfully.
