TALK // Our relationship with God is strengthened through our obedience to His commands. When we do what He says, we begin to understand who He is more clearly. By choosing to live like He instructs us to, we learn more about what He’s like and what He says is best for our lives. This week, talk to someone about a command of God you commonly struggle with. Maybe for you it’s loving your enemies or honoring your parents. Ask for help staying on track, and then just watch the impact it has on your relationship with God.

PRAY // Have you ever felt like following God was too difficult to do alone? How is anyone actually supposed to follow God’s commands and live the way He wants us to live? Thankfully, God doesn’t ask us to follow Him without help from Him. In fact, it’s impossible to live for God without Jesus. When we begin a relationship with Jesus, we let go of our ways and embrace His. He lives in us, guiding our decisions, thoughts, and actions. Today, ask God to help you notice the ways Jesus helps you. Remember, you’re never alone when you’re following God.

LIVE // In what ways do you show other people that you value them? According to Paul’s letter to the Philippian people, we’re supposed to value others above ourselves. We should think of the needs of other people before our own. We should have the best interest of other people in mind even if it goes against our best interest. We should prioritize other people above ourselves. This is a hard truth to accept— and even harder to practice—but it’s one that will help us stay truly humble. This week go out of your way to show value to other people through your daily actions.

LIVE // Everyone is looking for a group of people who will accept them for who they are, especially in high school. This is what Jesus does. He accepts all of us and welcomes us to be a part of His crew. If you’ve experienced acceptance from God, what would it look like for you to now extend acceptance to someone else? This week, find one person who is different than you and show them acceptance. Invite them to sit at your lunch table or even invite them to hangout with you this weekend. Imagine the positive impact you could have simply by extending acceptance.

HEAR // Many of us are naturally drawn to people who are similar to us. We walk into a room and gravitate to people who dress like us, look like us, or share similar interests. Although this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, there’s something better that can help us connect with others. You see, ANYONE who follows Jesus becomes a part of the same community, family, and team . . . we are ONE. All different social classes, races, and personalities become one big family because of Jesus. Today, let this truth encourage you to think of one way you can connect with someone different than you from your church community.

LIVE // Today, look for an opportunity to do something good for someone you normally wouldn’t consider reaching out to. Think of that person you would consider an “enemy” or “frienemy” and then find a way to help them, compliment them, or encourage them. Of course this won’t come naturally, but it could make a huge impact in their life—and in yours. It’s easy to love people who love us back. It’s harder to love like Jesus did. He loved people who didn’t even like Him. And now we have the opportunity to do the same by obeying His command to love everyone . . . even enemies.

HEAR // Do you ever feel like serving others doesn’t have much of an effect on the world? Sometimes serving others feels about as effective as using a phone flashlight to light a dark forest. Thankfully, this verse reminds us that when we serve others, the effect we’re having is more like that of a star than a flashlight. When we serve people in need, we’re shining a bright light on the darkness in the world around us. Today, let this verse be a reminder that God is using you to change the world when you help those in need.

LIVE // Today, look for an opportunity to do something good for someone else. When you begin to keep an eye out for the chance to help others, it begins to shape the way you live and think. If we go about our daily lives searching for opportunities to do good for other people, this mindset will quickly become a part of who we are. Don’t miss the chances you have to help others in a way that points them to Jesus. No matter how big or how small, every good deed makes a difference!

LIVE // How would you treat Jesus if He was right in front of you? And what if the way you treat those in need reveals how you would treat Him? This is either an encouraging or frightening question depending on how you treat the people around you. Either way, Jesus wants us to understand that when we serve those in need, it’s like He’s the one we’re actually caring for. Why? Because His heart is deeply connected to those in need. Today, choose to treat someone you know the same way you would treat Jesus. Serve them, love them, and go out of your way to do something that helps them.
