The Baton Is in Your Hands Now


What did Jesus leave us? Salvation, forgiveness, grace, peace, a transformed life, and power for life everlasting.

Ephesians chapter one says He's left us "every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus in the heavenly realms." He left us everything.

But He also started one thing while He was on earth. Just one. The church. It's His idea, and it's how He continues His legacy.

He entrusted the mission of reaching and blessing the nations through the gospel to the church. That legacy moves from the first century across oceans and continents, all the way to us, right here, right now.

Everything we love about this place exists because 56 years ago, a handful of men and women decided to leave what was comfortable. No building. No pastor. No budget. Just a belief that God was calling them to start something new.

They moved out of security and comfort into calling. And because they did, we're sitting here today. That's a legacy.

Now the baton is in our hands. God is speaking to us the same way He spoke to Abraham and to the founders of this church: I have the promise of a legacy for you, but you've got to move.

You've got to be willing to go beyond comfort, security, and avoidance of risk. Leave behind what's familiar, take a risk of faith, and step into what God is doing next.

Because we moved out in faith, they're going to experience the blessing of Jesus because we were willing to get uncomfortable. That's the legacy, the baton that's being passed down to us.
