Hermetta T. Harper, age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on April 25, 2022. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Huetta and Herman Twelkemeier.
Hermetta was a graduate of Waverly Central High in Waverly, TN where she met and married the love of her life, Dick Harper. They moved to Delaware early in their marriage and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.
Over the years, Hermetta had a successful career in real estate. She was an agent for over 30 years and especially enjoyed being able to help people find and sell their homes. She also had a real passion for music, especially folk music. She founded MettaFour Records, LLC, and produced several albums. She loved attending and often worked at Folk Festivals and music concerts.
She dedicated her life to raising her family and cherished nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. She was always active and loved to camp with her family and travel whenever possible. She loved traveling in their RV with Dick, her mother, sisters, children, and grandchildren. In December 2021, she spent several days camping at Disney World, roaming the park with her 95 year-old mother.
She was an active Quaker in the Wilmington Friends Meeting and especially loved being part of the Annual Strawberry Festival, Female Benevolent Society, and Harmony on the Hill.
Hermetta is survived by: her husband, Richard E. Harper Jr.; her four children, Susan Shahidi of Herndon, VA, Cathy Wilson (Brad) of Columbia, MD, Rick Harper (Amy) of Hockessin, DE, and David Harper (Robin) of Kennett Square, PA; and her thirteen grandchildren, the lights of her life, who called her Grametta: Molly Harper, Zach Wilson, River Harper, Andy Wilson, Cyrus Shahidi, Mary Harper, Clair Harper, Jenna Wilson, Ava Shahidi, Ellie Harper, Wyatt Harper, Annie Harper, and Finn Harper. She is also survived by her mother, Huetta Twelkemeier of Dickson, TN and her siblings, Barb Rehrig (Dave) of New Johnsonville, TN and Cindy McCann (Kevin) of Dickson, TN; and dozens of cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Hermetta made every life she touched better, and she touched so many lives.
