Paul's United Methodist Church is a community of various backgrounds and beliefs, drawn together by the love of Jesus Christ, our care for each other, and our passion for our community. We believe that all people are created in the image of God, that all people are of sacred worth

, and that Christ died for all people. We welcome everyone without exception, regardless of age, race, ethnic background, nationality, gender identity, sexual orientation, family or socioeconomic status, educational background, political affiliation, physical or mental ability, faith history or life experience. We believe that the diversity of God's creation is part of what makes it beautiful. We are a church where it is safe to disagree about important things and still remain united in the love of Jesus. We agree to accept, respect, and love one another along our faith journeys. No matter who you are, where you're from, who you love, or what you believe, you are always safe & welcomed at St.

Pause.

Give yourself a moment.

Gather your thoughts.

When you find yourself feeling anxious or frustrated, pause.

Before you speak.

Before you decide.

Before you act.

A simple pause allows your emotions to regulate enough so you can think more clearly and avoid a decision you later regret.

Something as simple as a pause before you answer, before you say yes, before you act can do wonders for your emotional energy and your relationships.

Powerful connections happen after the pause.

"Lord, help me to listen"
"Lord, help me to act"

"Silence in The Sanctuary"

This Thurs, June 18, 2026 from Noon-1PM

You are invited to sit in silence, pray, take in the beauty of the ever changing stained glass window, just be.

There will be no sermon, no music, no expectation.

It's a place for you to rest and breathe.

Park in the front of the building and enter through the glass door on the far right.

Come as you are.
Everyone is welcome.

Most people underestimate the power of connection.

Connection matters.
Connection can be simple.

A conversation.

A visit.

A lunch.

A laugh.

A story shared.

A moment that reminds us
we are not alone.
Life is better lived in community with others.

Today we connected in worship,
over coffee and snacks,
then over music and stories at Foulk Living.

And we have a feeling
we're just getting started.

We saw three different commercials during last night's worldcup game.

Different brands.

Same message:

"Connection matters."

They got that right.

In a world that often feels rushed, divided, and lonely, connection matters.

And compassion is where connection begins.

If you've longed fit connection, we have an idea.

We're thinking about having lemonade and iced tea under this tree one evening. You bring a lawn chair or blanket and we all enjoy conversation. No agenda. No study. Just connection.

What do you think? Would you be interested?

We hope to see you Sunday at 9:30 AM. Let's connect.

From the music.

The message.

The time we have together.

All of it is pointing in one direction.

Compassion.

But not the soft, vague kind.

The kind that notices.

The kind that acts.

The kind that may change how we see the people sitting right beside us.

Jeff Nicely will speaking this Sunday, June 14 at 9:30 AM..

If you have ever felt tired, lonely, overlooked, or quietly worn down...

you may want to be there.

Join us in person or online.

Then 11:20-Noon, we'll be singing and visiting with the residents at Foulk Living. We hope you will join us!

Stop waiting to do something big.

That's how compassion gets delayed.

We think it has to be dramatic.

A big gesture.

A perfect word.

A solution.

But most lonely people are not waiting for someone to fix everything.

They're waiting to feel noticed.

A text can do that.

A name remembered can do that.

A seat saved can do that.

A quiet check-in can do that.

A few minutes of listening can do that.

Small compassion isn't small to the person who feels invisible.

Sometimes love doesn't need a plan.

It just needs to move sooner.

Sunday at 9:30 AM Jeff Nicely will unpack this concept in a presentation you won't want to miss.

We saw the need and did our part.

Food isn't the only thing
families struggle to afford.

This past Sunday, St. Paul’s collected 111 pounds of laundry detergent and cleaning supplies for the Claymont Community Center Market.

That's compassion.

It notices the burden and acts.

This is becoming the St Paul's way.

To everyone who gave, thank you!

Every donation helped someone walk away less worried.

You made a difference.

Most people think compassion is kindness.

It’s not.

Kindness is being nice.

Compassion is noticing pain,
letting it move you,
and doing something about it.
