The second annual Wilmette Ecumenical Pet Blessing took place on the front lawn of FCCW on Sunday, 10/5. Thanks to our partners St. Augustine Episcopal, Trinity Lutheran and First Presbyterian Church for another wonderful afternoon with our local community and their very special pets!

Celebrating our 150th anniversary as FCCW! Special thanks to Leslie Johnson and the anniversary committee for their dedication in orchestrating this evening. We honor our past and eagerly look to the future as we re-affirm our commitment to the values of love, mercy and justice for all.

Emma is the daughter of Andrew and Valli Stewart and was confirmed at FCCW in 2011. Emma feels very grateful to have had such a strong intergenerational community and support system growing up in the church. Some of her favorite memories include the yearly family retreat in MI (especially hunting for Lion ants with Gretchen A. and singing “Morning Has Broken”) fun at the winter retreat in Lake Geneva and mission trips to Edisto Island, S.C, with the youth group. Weekly kids and youth group meetings were an integral part of her life growing up in Wilmette and Emma remains friends with many of the other youth group members. After graduating New Trier, Emma attended Carleton College in MN. She then moved back to Chicago to attend medical school at Loyola University. Emma is currently a second year pathology resident, training at NYU/Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. She hopes to pursue a career in gynecologic and breast pathology in the future! In her free time she enjoys cycling, cooking, reading books in the park and cuddling with her cat. Emma and her fiancé Max, whom she met in undergrad, plan to marry in the summer of 2026.
