ASH WEDNESDAY will be observed on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 with a 10:00 AM Mass with the imposition of ashes.

This is the most solemn day of the Christian Year. This is the only day of the Christian year where the appointed color of the day of Black. It is similar to the Jewish Day of Atonement. Ashes are a symbol of death and sadness. On this day we come face to face with our human mortality with the words spoken at the imposition of the ashes: "Remember that you are dust, and dust you shall return." It is a reminder to us, that without God, we are nothing more than dust.
