Yesterday, the faithful of St. Peter’s celebrated the Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple. Bishop Daniel Timotheos shared the importance of the feast day.

On this sacred day, we commemorate how the infant Jesus was presented in the Temple, fulfilling the Law and revealing Himself to those who longed for His coming. St. Simeon and St. Anna, filled with faith, recognized the Savior and rejoiced in God’s promise fulfilled.

This feast reminds us to prepare our hearts with purity and devotion so that we too may encounter Christ in our lives. May we, like Simeon, embrace the Lord with joy and proclaim His light to the world!

“Lord, now let Your servant depart in peace, according to Your word; for my eyes have seen Your salvation.” (Luke 2:29-30)

Happy Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross!

Today, we commemorate the rediscovery of the Cross Christ was crucified on and the profound mystery of the Cross as the instrument of our salvation. Through His sacrifice on the Cross, Christ turned what was a symbol of shame and suffering into a sign of triumph and victory over sin and death.

As we honor the Holy Cross, may we remember that through it, God’s boundless love was made manifest to us, bringing us hope, peace, and eternal life. Let us embrace the Cross, making the Sign of the Cross with reverence, and uniting ourselves to Christ’s sacrifice.

The Church celebrates the Feast of the Nativity of the Theotokos today. It is the first of the 12 Great Feasts to take place in the liturgical calendar. It marks the birth of Saint Mary and the Church remembers it because it is the visible beginning of salvation since our Lord was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary.

St. Mary stands as the greatest example of perfect obedience, humility, and unwavering faithfulness to God. Her life is a testament to the power to say “yes” to God’s will, even when it seems impossible. As we commemorate her birth, may we follow her virtuous path, becoming vessels of God’s divine presence just like her.

Today’s homily was shared by Brother Macarius.
He encouraged us to live daily and be more faithful in our lives for Christ.

“Your neighbor’s sin was a gift sent from God for you to learn a lesson in repentance. If we take this lesson to heart, we can become more like Christ every day.” - Macarius

We recently celebrated the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God.

We do so in honor of her life and falling asleep and are simultaneously preparing ourselves to live a life in imitation of her.

The church teaches that Saint Mary heard the word of God and kept it so well that she was chosen not only to hear His Word but give birth to it (Him). It is in the Dormition that we see the Mother of God trample down death by death just as Christ did so on the cross and that is why we celebrate this great feast.

Dear Faithful of the Church,

With profound grief and sorrow, we would like to inform you that His Holiness Athanasius Yohan I, our honorable Metropolitan reposed in the Lord on the evening of the 8th of May 2024.

He departed due to sudden cardiac arrest in a hospital in Dallas, Texas where he had been receiving treatment since being in a car accident.

May his memory be eternal!

We as a church praise God for allowing His servant the strength to run his race faithfully and with much endurance to the very end. Millions of lives are forever transformed because of his tireless passion and service unto His Savior.

May God receive him in the embrace of the saints. Christ is risen!

May his memory be eternal!
