PENTECOST PLENARY INDULGENCE WITH THE PUBLIC RECITATION OF COME, HOLY SPIRIT, CREATOR (VENI, CREATOR SPIRITUS).

Come, Holy Spirit, Creator come,
From your bright heavenly throne!
Come, take possession of our souls,
And make them all your own.

You who are called the Paraclete,
Best gift of God above,
The living spring, the living fire,
Sweet unction, and true love!

You who are sevenfold in your grace,
Finger of God’s right hand,
His promise, teaching little ones
To speak and understand!

O guide our minds with your blessed light,
With love our hearts inflame,
And with your strength which never decays
Confirm our mortal frame.

Far from us drive our hellish foe
True peace unto us bring,
And through all perils guide us safe
Beneath your sacred wing.

Through you may we the Father know,
Through you the eternal Son
And you the Spirit of them both
Thrice-blessed three in one.
All glory to the Father be,
And to the risen Son;
The same to you, O Paraclete,

CFF: 2nd Year Confirmation Retreat

The second Confirmation retreat for the kids preparing to make their Confirmation Sacrament has been scheduled for May 16 from 2 to 5 PM with mass to follow in the church from 5 to 6 PM. It will be held at Saint Monica‘s Parish Hall and we will be hosting a guest speaker.

While we do understand that this may conflict with some fair activities, we want to remind parents that the retreat is mandatory and required in order for the students to receive their sacrament. We know that the kids have worked very hard the past two years, and we are looking forward to watching them all receive their Confirmation Sacrament very soon.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to spending that afternoon with all the kids!

Here is the video that was shared at Mass today, Sunday, May 3, at the St. Monica Parish Altar Server Thanksgiving and Recognition Mass, where we celebrated our 50 altar servers who faithfully served in 2025.

Being an altar server is a meaningful commitment, and we are truly blessed to walk alongside these young servants in their faith journey.

Thank you to our coordinators—Marisol, Marianne, and Gaby—for your dedication and guidance.
A special thank you to the Willows Pheasant Association for your generous donation toward our new surplices and cassocks.

“An altar server is not just a helper at Mass, but a servant at the table of the Lord.”

Today, we would like to take a moment to recognize and congratulate our altar servers for their dedication and service to St. Monica Parish, as well as our Altar Server Coordinators Marisol Bobadilla, Marianne Couto and Gaby Hernandez.

Altar servers play a very important role in the life of our Church. They assist the priest at the altar, helping the Mass flow smoothly and reverently. They serve as role models, especially for younger members, by showing commitment, responsibility, and respect. Their presence helps create a prayerful environment for all of us.

This past year, in 2025, we had two priests, each with their own style. Through all of these changes, our altar servers have adapted with remarkable flexibility, grace, and excellence. Your willingness to learn and grow has truly been exceptional, and we are so proud of each and every one of you.

50 Altar Servers received a Certificate of Service. Those that served at least one full one year by the end of 2025, received an award from the Diocese as well.

This year, we are honored to present the *Priest’s Choice Award—Father Sherwin’s Choice* to a truly outstanding altar server, Maria Ramsey.

Maria began altar serving at the end of 2025, and in such a short time, she has made a lasting impression on all of us. She serves with a joyful heart, always wearing a warm and welcoming smile. What truly sets Maria apart is her willingness to step in whenever she is needed. Whether we are short a server or need someone at the last minute, Maria never hesitates—she simply says “yes,” and she does so with kindness and enthusiasm.

There have been many times when she has served back-to-back Masses without hesitation, demonstrating not only her dedication, but her love for serving God and our parish community.

Maria, your reliability, positivity, and servant’s heart embody the very spirit of this ministry. It is for these reasons that Father Sherwin has chosen you for this special recognition.

Our last award went to our Altar Server of the Year, Tavian Bobadilla.

Tavian Bobadilla is an exceptional Altar Server who has faithfully served at St. Monica Parish in Willows for over eight years. Throughout that time, he has demonstrated remarkable dedication, reverence, and reliability. Tavian generously serves at regular weekend Masses, special liturgies, and funerals whenever he is asked.

He is attentive and prayerful during Mass, showing a deep respect for the sacredness of the liturgy. Tavian leads by example, modeling proper posture, responses, and attentiveness, which sets a strong standard for others. He has also been instrumental in mentoring and assisting new altar servers, patiently guiding them and helping them grow in confidence and understanding of their role.

Tavian is especially commendable in his ability to adapt when visiting priests celebrate Mass. He pays close attention to their individual preferences and the way they celebrate the liturgy, adjusting seamlessly to ensure that everything flows smoothly. His attentiveness to detail and readiness to assist at any moment reflect both his maturity and his deep understanding of his responsibilities at the altar.

Beyond the altar, Tavian lives out his discipleship in all areas of his life. He reflects his faith in his education, athletics, and extracurricular activities, and he continues to serve his parish community as an active leader of St. Monica Teen Ministry. Tavian embodies the qualities of leadership, humility, service, and faith, making him truly deserving of the honor of Altar Server of the Year.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Knights of Columbus for partnering with YLI and sponsoring the wonderful breakfast prepared by YLGI members. Thank you to YLI for generously sponsoring the gifts for our altar servers. Lastly, thank you to the Willows Pheasant Association for their donation towards the new Altar Server cassocks and surplices.

Congratulations to all of our altar servers—you are appreciated more than you know!
