We are local body of baptized believers waiting for the second coming of Jesus Christ, who will shortly afterwards rule and reign the earth for 1,000 years; after which the people of God shall be brought to a new heaven and a new earth.

Thought for the Day, October 8, 2026,

"I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day."--Isaiah 27:3

The Lord Jesus Christ, who lives at God's right hand, has to send down supplies of his grace continually to keep your soul alive unto himself. Without this life being kept up and maintained by these continual supplies of his grace, you cannot pray, or read, or hear the word, or meditate with any feeling or profit. You cannot love the Lord and his blessed ways; you cannot submit to his righteous dealings; or hear the rod and him who appointed it. You may approach his throne, but your heart is cold, clouded, and unfeeling; your spirit sinks under the weight and burden of the trials and difficulties that are spread in your path; nor are you able to do anything that satisfies yourself, or that you think can satisfy God. By these painful but profitable lessons, you are experimentally taught that you want the life of Christ as well as the death of Christ, the resurrection of Christ as much as the crucifixion of Christ; Christ as an ever-living, ever-gracious, ever-glorious Mediator, to send down supplies of his love and power into your soul, as much as you needed him to die upon the cross for your redemption.
J.C. Philpot (1802-1869), Excerpt provided from, J. C. Philpot, Daily Portions for January 22

Too many modern preachers resemble auctioneers, who put up heaven to the highest bidder.

Thought for the Day, October 6, 2026,

We cannot be spiritually strong unless we know truth and then act upon the truth we say we love. As a man loves so he lives. If a man loves his wife, he lives for her, provides for her, and protects her. If a man loves his church, he lives for it. If he loves Jesus Christ, which precedes everything, he lives for Christ. As a man believes so he behaves. If his love is the love that has been shed abroad in his heart in regeneration, he will love Jesus Christ and will love living for Christ. Faith and love will not spoil the believer in any kind of secular work. It will make him sacred in the midst of all the dangers of secularity.
Wilbur Elias Best, Excerpt from a message entitled: Letter to the Church at Sardis

Let Diotrephes say, it is good for me to have the pre-eminence. Let Judas say, it is good for me to bear the bag. Let Demas say, it is good for me to embrace the present world. – But do thou, O my soul, say with David, it is good for me to draw near to God!
Arrowsmith

Thought for the Day, October 2, 2026,

There is … a glorious future for the ancient people of God. … The Israel, Jacob, Judah, Jerusalem, Zion, of Old Testament prophesy, are not the “Church,” but the literal Israel, Jacob, Judah, Jerusalem, Zion, of Old Testament history and of the Four Gospels, the Acts, the Epistles, and the Apocalypse.

Thought for the Day, October 1, 2026,

The dealings of God in the latter day with the Jews and Jerusalem possess an exceeding interest to all those who see the importance which God attaches to that place and people. … Whatever is important in God’s eyes ought to be so in ours, as being made the children of God; He has said of Jerusalem, “My eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.” He has said of Israel that if His covenant with the day and night cannot be broken, then He will not cast off His ancient people. Jesus died for that nation; they are still “beloved for the father’ sakes.” … What soul is there that has tasted the mercy of God and rejoices in the grace which has been shown in the precious blood of Christ, that does not feel joy in the contemplation of this great and surpassing display of the same grace? It is indeed a great privilege to be allowed to know what God is going to perform; and, knowing what the result is, we cannot judge any of the details to be unimportant.

The cold water of persecution is often thrown on the Church’s face to fetch her to herself when she is in a swoon.
