A discussion about Dan was on a website called Topix, which was a local discussion forum on the web. It was popular, especially, in small communities where anonymity is something of a novel concept. Everyone knows each other and would love to gossip on the site. I remember reading the discussion about Dan. There were all kinds of things said about what happened when he disappeared, some accusations of people, also. I wonder if police followed up on these leads, or just dismissed them as local gossip? The Topix local news and forums were shut down on December 20, 2018. If anyone has access to the archives, maybe within it lies an answer.
