Our very own, Dave Thompson, who has been serving our church and community with love and compassion for well over a year, will be sharing the message at Revival at the Park in Willow Hill, Illinois, on Friday, August 7th at 7:00 p.m.

Dave Thompson serves as the pastor at Willow Hill Community Church. He is referred to as Pastor Dave by the community and is known as Crazy Dave among the youth. He is dedicated to guiding individuals toward a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and conveying the hope and future that God has for them. He is straightforward and candid in sharing his personal testimony and the transforming truths of Scripture. He is particularly known for his intentionally committed prayer life.

Dave and his wife Barbara have four children and five grandchildren.

Worship will be brought to us on Friday evening by Simply Jesus from Lawrenceville, Illinois. They released their first single: At the Table, in April of 2025. Watch for a future post with the link included.

Rick Britton will be sharing a message with us on Thursday, August 6th, at 7:00 p.m. at the “He is Able!” Revival at the Park in Willow Hill, Illinois.

Rick has been the pastor of Plainfield Church, Rosehill, Illinois, for over 18 years and assists Cummins Church with pastoral needs.

Rick and his wife Marla will celebrate their 45th anniversary on August 21st. They are the proud parents of 3 children and proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren.

Rick graduated from Greenville College in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology-Religion. He began his 36 1/2 year law-enforcement career with the Newton Police Department and served as the Jasper County Sheriff. He spent 22 years of his service with the Illinois State Police.

Rick enjoys hunting, fishing, and serving others. Rick strives to be proactive in kindness by following Paul’s words in Galatians 6:10, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Worship music on Thursday evening will be brought to us by Rick and Marla’s son, Riley Britton, and the Scott Avenue Christian Church Praise Band.

Rick Emrich from Casey, Illinois, will be bringing the message on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, at the “He is Able!” Revival at the Park in Willow Hill, Illinois at 7:00 p.m.

Rick was born in 1945 in Terre Haute, Indiana. In 1966 he married the love of his life, Loretta Finn. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage and they have been blessed with two children and seven grandchildren.

Rick served in the United States Navy, Seabees, from 1966-1970, serving one year in Vietnam.

In 1973, Rick made the most important decision of his life when he received Jesus Christ as his Savior. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University and his Master’s in Biblical Studies from Trinity Theological Seminary. He has served 52 years pastoring churches and evangelistic meetings.

Rick is the current pastor of Hurricane Creek Baptist Church and Pleasant Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

We will also be blessed with music on Wednesday evening by Brian and Chrissy Leffler from Willow Hill and Jim Russell from Oblong. They attend Mound Church and were a part of the Mound Abouts for several years, and have been traveling the area and singing at church meetings.

Henry McKee was the recipient of a Booker’s Blessing. Henry had to unexpectedly move from his home without much notice. To help with extra expenses caused by the disruption to his life, Henry received a Dollar General gift card and a gas gift card as a random act of kindness in honor of Ross Booker.

Message from a kind and helpful friend of our community: Hello! We stopped by the Willow Hill Public Library the other day to drop off some food and noticed it could use a little extra love. So we took some time to clean it up, throw away expired items, and restock it with food and a few personal care items.

We just ask that everyone please take only what they need and leave what they don’t for the next person. 💛
