COPIES FROM ANOTHER POST…..
I think one of the things we’ve lost in modern Christianity is our appreciation for ordinary churches filled with ordinary people.
Yesterday was just a regular Sunday at our church. Attendance was about what it usually is. We sang familiar songs, read from the Psalms, prayed together, and listened to a sermon. No special events, no big production, nothing super exciting. Just ordinary people gathering to worship God.
But what happened after the service reminded me that some of the most beautiful parts of church have nothing to do with what happens on the platform
I watched people making plans to bring meals to a family with someone in the hospital.
I saw people gathering around someone who had lost a loved one, hugging them, praying with them, and reminding them they weren’t alone.
Children were running around playing while their parents stood talking with friends, catching up on life.
Some families had brought fresh tomatoes and vegetables from their gardens and left them on a bench for anyone to take home.
Others were making lunch plans, checking on people who had been sick, and helping families who were going through a difficult season.
Just ordinary people doing the little things that make a church feel like family.
Because what makes a church beautiful isn’t the lighting, the stage, the music, or the size of the crowd.
It’s the people.
It’s the grandmother who knows every child by name.
It’s the family that shows up with a casserole when someone is sick.
It’s the friends who gather around you when you lose someone you love.
It’s the people who remember your birthday, ask about your children, invite you to lunch, and notice when you’re missing.
It’s watching children grow up surrounded by adults who love them, pray for them, and genuinely want to see them follow Jesus.
You can spend an enormous amount of money creating an impressive Sunday morning.
But you cannot manufacture the kind of love that makes a group of ordinary people feel like family.
Not everything is perfect or every Sunday is exciting, but there’s something really beautiful about ordinary people becoming family to one another.
That’s what I saw yesterday.
Just a group of ordinary people, with ordinary problems, raising ordinary families, trying to love Jesus and care for one another.
THANK YOU, CORNERSTONE FAMILY FOR HANGING OUT AFTER CHURCH AND LOVING ONE-ANOTHER AND DOING LIFE TOGETHER❣️
