God's Blessing Food Pantry at Rockbridge BC

Hello, I wanted to share with you some great news about what God is doing during this plague. Since the plague began and businesses closed creating uncertainty for many God has provided the means to have food distributions each week on Thursday. The first week 22 households were served, in the second 46, and the most recent week 65 households. This last week our stock was nearly depleted and finances are beginning to be tight. Just as we know and live by faith that all things are in God's hand he will deliver us from this plague and he will provide for our needs. Cornerstone Christian and New Hope Baptist have stepped in to help in these times with food pickups and donations. This is just one way God has blessed and they have been a true blessing. Thank you Tobe and Warren. As we discussed the needs for next week seeking God's will, a letter arrived from here in Springfield with a donation that was an answer to our prayers. Thank you Lord for showing your faithfulness of Psalm 104:28. You opened your hand and we were satisfied. If you would like to support us there are three ways, praying, serving, and donating. The food pantry is starting it's third year at Rockbridge and we have adjusted the service in that time to enable the ministry to serve more people in our community. One of those changes happened a few weeks ago. Instead of opening on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at 10:00 AM the food pantry will now be open the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 10:00 AM.

This change was made to obtain supplies earlier in the week from Feeding America. This has been enabling the church to obtain more and better food supplies to distribute.

We have finished the year strong at God's Blessing Food Pantry and want to share with all those that support us some very exciting news about the families served and the amount of God's provision to do so.

During 2016, 30684 pounds of food were distributed to 861 households and serving 2091 individuals in our area. God was so gracious he allowed us to serve these families at an average cost of 0.09 cents per pound, $3.11 per household, and $1.28 per person. The average weight of each box received was 35.6 pounds.

Also during the year we distributed approximately 25 food boxes to families in crisis who had run out of food and had no resources to fee their children.

The food pantry operated on a total budget of $2,681 most of which came from individual donations and the remainder from Rockbridge Baptist Church. The ministry wants to extend our thanks to those that have supported us and ask that if God so leads you please continue to support the food pantry as you can.

We pray for a day when there will be no need and that all would have plenty. Until then God looks to his people to feed all those who are hungry.

Due to the weather the food pantry needs to restock and will resume by opening on the normal schedule in February on the second Saturday of the month which will be February 13.

We do try to serve those that are in a crisis and need food outside of our normal hours so please contact pastor Terry at 859-481-8684 if you know someone that needs help.

The food pantry will be open this Saturday January 9th at 10:00 AM.

The income qualifications for need from Feeding America is as follows:

You do not need to disclose your income or provide other proof of income or need. This is based on the honor system. When you sign the log you are certifying that your income does not exceed the maximum allowed for your household size.

Food pantry schedule

The food pantry will be open on the December 19 from 10:00 until 12:00 or until supplies are depleted. This will the last Saturday we are open until the second Saturday in January, which is January 9.

We hope to help folks with food during Christmas.

May God Bless you with peace and joy as we celebrate the incarnation of the Son of God who comes to redeem sinners from the condemnation of sin. The greatest gift is given by God to man. The gift must be received and accepted. What must a person do to be saved.
