Congregation Shir Shalom-Buffalo, NY

Congregation Shir Shalom-Buffalo, NY We are a newly formed Congregation consisting of members of two established synagogues... Temple Sinai and Temple Beth Am.

Congregation Shir Shalom is a synagogue of progressive Jewish values, both respecting our heritage and becoming active participants in the building of our Jewish future Congregation Shir Shalom-A place where Jewish families in all different configurations come to share a strong sense of community, spirituality and common purpose. The two temples have merged under the new name Congregation Shir Shalom, meaning "Song of Peace."

“Raising Our Tents in Preparation for Rosh Hashanah”

Outside the Everett House on the campus of the Chautauqua Institute is a display of a tent from 1870. Unlike the elaborate popup tents of today, the design of the 19th century was simple - a tall wooden pole, a large canvas fabric, and voila you have a place to stay for the night. Perhaps because I’m a rabbi and I think about such things, my mind immediately asked the question: if this was what a tent looked like a century and a half ago, what about the tents of Jacob? Were the design of our ancestors huts any different?...https://conta.cc/4djvU5U
