“God Has a Hedge” Text: Job 1:6-12
Pastor Graham preached a powerful reminder that the safest place in all the world is within the protective care of God. As the heavenly scene unfolds in Job 1, Satan appears before the Lord and immediately draws attention to Job. Yet before any accusation is made, an important truth is revealed: Satan could not touch Job because God had placed a hedge around him.
The enemy himself testified, “Hast not thou made an hedge about him?” (Job 1:10). Job did not build that hedge. His wealth did not create it. His own strength did not maintain it. God established it. This divine protection surrounded Job, his family, and all that he possessed. The message is clear: God is both Savior and Keeper. His children live under His watchful care.
The sermon emphasized that Satan is neither all-powerful nor all-knowing. Though he seeks to devour and destroy, he cannot cross boundaries that God has not permitted. The hedge around Job reminds believers that their lives are not governed by chance, fate, or the whims of the enemy. God remains sovereign over every circumstance.
Yet the account also teaches that God's hedge is not merely a wall of protection from trouble. Sometimes God allows tests, trials, and spiritual battles for purposes beyond our understanding. Even then, the hedge has not disappeared. The same God who permits the trial also limits the enemy's reach. Satan could go only as far as God allowed and no farther.
Pastor Graham challenged believers to find their safe place in the Lord. In a world filled with uncertainty, fear, temptation, and spiritual attack, there is security in God's presence. The safest place is not found in money, possessions, government, or human ability. It is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Psalm 91 declares that those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. God's presence remains the refuge of His people.
The hedge of God is experienced through prayer, obedience, faithfulness, and daily fellowship with Him. As believers stay close to the Lord, they discover that His grace sustains them, His Spirit guides them, and His hand protects them. The enemy may roar, storms may come, and trials may arise, but God's children are never outside His care.
The message concluded with a call to trust God's sovereignty even when life becomes difficult. Like Job, we may not always understand what God is doing behind the scenes. However, we can rest in the assurance that God sees what we cannot see. The hedge of His love, wisdom, and protection surrounds His people. Therefore, our greatest need is not merely to seek God's blessings, but to seek His presence and remain close to Him.
So, dear saints, remember, the safest place in life is not where there are no storms—it is where God is. Find your refuge in Him, stay within His will, and trust the God whose hedge no enemy can breach without His permission.

🦁 Sunday School Invitation 🦁
Join us this Sunday morning as we conclude our study in the Book of Daniel with one of the most beloved accounts in Scripture: "In the Lions' Den" (Daniel 6:1-28).
Daniel's enemies could find no fault in his character, so they attacked the one thing they knew he would never abandon—his faith in God. Faced with a law that made prayer illegal, Daniel remained steadfast, continuing to pray just as he always had. His unwavering faith led him into the lions' den, but it also became the stage upon which God displayed His power and faithfulness.
This powerful lesson reminds us that when our faith is challenged, we must remain faithful. Daniel's consistency not only brought deliverance for himself but also became a testimony that caused a king and an empire to acknowledge the greatness of God.
📖 Golden Text: "When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime." — Daniel 6:10
Come discover how a life of prayer, integrity, and steadfast devotion can shine God's light even in the darkest circumstances. We invite you to join us as we learn how faithfulness to God remains one of the strongest witnesses to an unbelieving world.

✨ Evangelical Commentary Summary

Unit Theme: The Book of Daniel
May 31, 2026 — Lesson 13
IN THE LIONS’ DEN
Daniel 6:1‑28

1. A Conspiracy Against Daniel (Daniel 6:1‑9)

Daniel’s integrity and excellence stirred jealousy among the other officials. Unable to find fault in his work, they targeted his faith. They manipulated King Darius into signing an irrevocable decree that outlawed prayer to anyone except the king. The conspiracy reveals how godly character can provoke opposition, yet also how God positions His people for moments that display His glory.

2. Daniel’s Faithfulness Invites a Challenge (Daniel 6:10‑18)

Daniel responded to the decree with unwavering devotion. He continued his rhythm of prayer—open windows, toward Jerusalem, three times a day—just “as he did aforetime.” His faithfulness was not reactionary; it was a long‑formed habit of trust. The king, though trapped by his own law, recognized Daniel’s innocence and spent a sleepless night hoping for his deliverance. Daniel’s steadfastness became a witness even to a pagan ruler.

3. God Delivers and Is Revered (Daniel 6:19‑28)

At dawn, Darius rushed to the lions’ den and found Daniel alive—protected by God’s angel. Daniel’s deliverance led the king to publicly honor the God of Israel, declaring His power and eternal kingdom. The miracle not only vindicated Daniel but also magnified God’s name throughout the empire. Faithfulness under pressure became a platform for God’s glory.

Central Truth

When faithfulness to God is challenged, we must remain steadfast.

Focus

Appreciate Daniel’s unwavering faithfulness to God and commit to remain faithful amidst any challenge.

Evangelism Emphasis

Faithfulness to God is a witness to unbelievers.
Daniel’s consistency opened the door for a king—and a nation—to acknowledge God.

Golden Text

“When Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime” (Daniel 6:10).

🦁 Prayer: Steadfast in the Lions’ Den

(Scripture not in bold, gentle and steady tone)

Father,
Thank You for the witness of Daniel, who remained faithful even when the cost was great. As he opened his windows toward Jerusalem and prayed three times a day, help us to open our hearts toward You with the same steady devotion. Teach us to walk in rhythms of trust that do not shift when pressure rises.

When challenges come, remind us that You are the same God who shut the lions’ mouths. Strengthen us to stand firm, to choose obedience over fear, and to honor You in every decision. Let our faithfulness become a quiet testimony that draws unbelievers toward Your light.

Just as You delivered Daniel and revealed Your glory to a watching world, work through our lives in ways that point others to Your power, Your goodness, and Your unfailing love. Keep us steadfast, prayerful, and anchored in Your presence.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

See you there!
