I had the opportunity a few weeks back to connect with some leaders in the Northumberland association and talk about our shared mission as an association. Leaders from Central Baptist Williamsport, FBC Milton, Muncy Baptist and Hepburn Baptist shared a lunch together. Tim - North Central GPS

Last week, before Labor Day, I visited with Rev. Dr. Charles Meile, lead pastor of Church 120 in Harrisburg. Pastor Meile is the former pastor of Greater Zion Baptist Church (an ABCOPAD congregation) and recently planted this new congregation that has been growing over the last several months. Pastor Meile is considering having the church join the Harrisburg Association and ABCOPAD. It was a delight to share a meal with Pastor Meile and learn more about this new church plant. - Mark

Pastor Powell, GPS for the NW writes: This past Friday I had the opportunity to visit through more NW area churches in order to present them with certificates of appreciation as supporters of Partners in Ministry: Greenfield (Oil Creek Association) where I met with the associate pastor, Seth Harmon and the office manager, Jennifer Cowser, Wesleyville (Oil Creek Association) where I met with Pastor Shane Thompson and the office manager, Cathy Vincent, and lastly with West Springfield (French Creek Association) where I met with Pastor Louis Powers.

Along with those fine folks, also pictured are a timeline of Greenfield's church history (they're older than 150) that was found and put on display, as well as the exterior of Wesleyville's church building.

In each instance, it was an opportunity to build relationships, learn about what each church is up to these days, including a recounting of their blessings and opportunities, and answer any questions about how ABCOPAD can continue to support their local ministry.

Last Sunday I preached at the First English Baptist Church of Bloomsburg. Lead Pastor Rev. Dr. Lee Barnhardt was enjoying some vacation time and has served the church for over 26 years. It was a joy connecting with many dear friends. In 2015, I accompanied an Alaska Mission Team from the church. I also connected with dear friends I met through our ABCOPAD Women’s Ministry. It was a blessing to encourage and support both the congregation and Pastor Lee. (While I didn’t get a picture, I was able to give Pastor Lee a shepherd’s staff and thank him for his many years of faithful service. - Mark

Last Friday, the Centre Baptist Association met at the Altoona Curves Baseball Park to enjoy a picnic dinner and watch the game. The weather was perfect and the meal was delicious. But most of all, it was great to have a chance to connect with members of the Centre Association. Special thanks to Pastor Rex Shope and Pastor David Ford for bringing many members of their congregations to the park. We hope to grow this event in the coming years. - Mark

ABCOPAD, in partnership with ACTS Ministry School, is offering an 8-week, online, asynchronous Pulpit Supply Certificate Course. This is an excellent way to raise up preachers to fill in for your pastor or grow in your skill set, if you are already preaching. Graduates will be included on ABCOPAD's official list of pulpit supply recognized speakers and shared with any churches in need of pulpit supply. Visit ACTSministryschool.com for more info and to register!

Last Wednesday, Rev. Brad Lacey invited me to the Radio studio in downtown Philadelphia to record a session for his “The Great Message” broadcast. It was a wonderful experience to be interviewed by Pastor Brad and record a broadcast focused on ABCOPAD. Pastor Brad is the lead minister at the First Baptist Church of Conshohocken and the founder of The Great Message radio broadcast. It was fun spending the day with Pastor Brad, getting a tour of the historic Philadelphia Armory and having lunch at one of Pastor Brad’s favorite downtown restaurants. Grateful for this long- standing partner in ministry. When the recording is available, I will create a new post. - Mark
