Our Beginning: By the grace of God, Calvary Baptist Church was organized on October 25, 1942, by Rev. Our first organizational meetings were conducted at Mrs. Noah Farley's home on West 5th Avenue, in West Williamson. Our church name, Calvary Baptist Church, was selected by charter member, Betty Lambert. The church met in various locations prior to purchasing the lot and erecting the building on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Slater Street. In 1963 Calvary Baptist separated from the American Baptist Convention and became a fully autonomous independent Baptist church. Our present building with expanded auditorium was completed in 1964, and the church finished applying brick to the old unit in 1991. The old auditorium is now used as our fellowship hall.
