Last summer, our youth group attended a Catholic youth conference at Benedictine College, where we were able to experience a beautiful candlelit adoration with worship music. Even though the weekend was filled with fun, good food, and great speakers, most of the teens will tell you that the candlelight adoration was the most meaningful part of their weekend.
When we got home, they said, why can’t we do something like that here?
So, with wonderful support from Fr. Maddock, this winter our youth group hosted 3 candlelit adorations.
One person who attended sent this: “I just wanted to tell you how much I loved the Adoration at St John’s tonight. Absolutely phenomenal. Very very poignant and meaningful, nothing else will ever live up to it. A blessing for everyone, I only hope you can do it again!!! Really, thank you so much. God bless.”
I wanted to share because for starters, I’m so proud of these kids for recognizing God moving in their life in a special way, and then wanting to share it with others. I am proud of the teens that came to help set up, pass out programs and candles, and lead the worship music. (Teens are very busy people, and they committed their free time to this!) Mostly, I am so proud of the faith of the youth in our parishes. They are really incredible people, and I am excited to see them continue to follow the path the Lord has planned for them.
