Why did you choose to work at Camp Tekakwitha? 🏕️
“I knew I wanted a summer that would be memorable and fulfilling! I wanted to do something that would challenge me to disconnect and fully enjoy the present moment. When a friend invited me to apply to work at camp — a place I had loved growing up — it felt perfect, like a full-circle moment. I remembered my experiences as a camper and how energized and restored I felt after my time there, and I realized I wanted that same feeling again. So I said yes!”

Favorite camp memory 🌅
“My favorite camp memory was during WAC (Wednesday Afternoon Competition). My campers and I made it to the finals for our tribe! The excitement, energy, and smiles they carried all day left me with so much joy. Watching my campers celebrate together and being able to share that joy was such a fun and unforgettable experience. Looking back, that is definitely a memory I’ll treasure for years to come.”

What would you say to someone considering working at camp? ☀️
“My advice to anyone wanting to work at camp this summer is: do it! The Church is beautiful, diverse, and welcoming, and it wants your experience. Coming to camp was life-changing for me — I made some of my dearest friends and built friendships rooted in faith, generosity, and laughter. I worked with future saints, and you can too. All it takes is a simple yes!”

We are excited to share an important update about Camp Tekakwitha at Prairie Star Ranch. Beginning July 1, the Prairie Star Ranch will operate as a separate, self-governed, Catholic nonprofit corporation, bringing together year-round retreats, Camp Tekakwitha, and Rural Youth Ministry Outreach under one unified umbrella and mission.

For your family, this change is rooted in continuity you can trust. Camp Tekakwitha will continue its summer programs with the same commitment to faith formation, fun, and safety. Just as importantly, our leadership remains consistent—Dcn. Dana and Debbie Nearmyer, along with Drew and Allie Foster and the broader leadership team, will continue to guide and shape the camp experience that you know and love.

At the same time, this new structure creates meaningful opportunities for growth. By uniting all of the Ranch’s ministries, we are better positioned to expand programming, serve more families, and deepen the impact of each camper’s experience.

Prairie Star Ranch also remains fully aligned with the Archdiocese, continuing in its Catholic mission and supported in part through the annual Call to Share appeal. This transition strengthens our ability to serve, while remaining firmly rooted in the life and mission of the Church.

We invite you to visit the Camp Tekakwitha website to learn more about this exciting new chapter. We are truly grateful for your trust and prayers, and we look forward to welcoming your family for another incredible summer at camp.
