Fear in this day
Proverbs 3:25-26 NASB- Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
Psalms 27:1 NASB-The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread?
“Fear” a common feeling in this day and age as technology advances ever more abundantly, news organizations seem to be reporting ever worsening ideas and tragedies on what seems to be an hourly basis not to mention politics have certainly been getting uglier feeding on people’s fears more and more as the years have progressed. It seems as though everywhere we look, every angle we turn our society is hell bent on pushing the FEAR agenda. But why? Why are the people of this planet so obsessed with fear? And what is the root cause of the fear agenda? We have always been told that since the dawning of man we have had a sense of fear for the unknown however as those of us in the faith know we were not always fearful the first showing of the sense of fear did not show itself until Genesis 3:10 NASB- He said I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself. The first instance of fear does not show itself until after the fall of man when sin took over the hearts of man. Since that time, we have been a species of fear based on the illogical idea that the unknown or misunderstood should always be feared. However, scripture is truly clear in that the only time for us to fear is Proverbs 9:10 NASB The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy one is understanding. We as Christians are to fear only the Lord however the Fear that is represented is not the same fear as we would normally feel towards something “scary”, this fear is far from that it is a fear of complete awe, amazement, respect and worship for the one who has created us and who we belong completely to. So why then are we as a people so obsessed with fear? If we look at the attitude of fear and the repercussions of fear, we can see clearly why our enemy decides to utilize the aspect of fear within us. When fearful a person will do or submit to anyone or anything to lessen that which has been terrifying to us therefor surrendering our will to someone who claims to be able to protect us from that which we fear. Fear allows Satan to bring about a control over those who submit to it, Because of this the world will constantly bring forth whatever it can to bring about this sense of fear for total control over all afflicted. Throughout all of history every totalitarian overlords from Hi**er to Stalin from Mao to Castro their reigns all have one main character in common they all used fear to bring about total control over their peoples allowing evil in its purist form to happen this is why fear of the unknown truly is a tool of control used by the enemy. Psalms 33:8-9 KJV Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. If everything has been created and spoke into existence by God almighty then Fear of this world has no place in our hearts as scripture clearly states Fear of the Lord is essential for all Christians therefor take heart that God is in complete control therefor we should have no fear but instead have complete faith in our Lord God almighty. It is imperative to give up our hearts of Fear of the world to give our fear to Christ our Lord and Savior if instead of concentrating on what is going wrong in the world around us we keep our eyes and our hearts on what is pure and just in our Lord Jesus Christ then Fear will have no place to take root for when Christ has our complete concentration then Satan has no room to take a foot hold in our lives. Give God your utmost attention fear Him alone, give Him complete control then and only then can we fulfill our calling to worship He who is worthy of all praise. As Christ is our savior and He is God who then can cause us harm for we are His and His alone.

It has most certainly been an interesting experience these last two months with the quarantine and this pandemic. it would most certainly be easy enough to look at these situations as a possible curse or warranted disaster due to the constant back sliding we as a nation have been trending. However what if this pandemic is actually a calling for us as children of God to repent and seek first his kingdom and not the kingdom of man. What if this truthfully is not a pandemic but an awakening a second chance to stop the insanity that has become modern life to fall down upon our knees in loyal servitude to our creator our Lord our God, putting aside the desires of our hearts in recognition of the desires of Christ. a thought for a nation spinning in turmoil instead of fear let us turn towards Christ everyday in prayer spending time in his word so he might speak to our hearts thus transforming us for His will.

Scripture Mission May 5th
• Exodus 20:12(KJV) Honor thy father and mother that thy days may be longer upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee
Mothers are such an inspirational figure in any child’s life. The selfless dedication that our mothers dedicate to us is a direct representation of Christ’s undying love and constant dedication to his people.
Just as a child often and continually stumbles and falls our mothers always pick us up, dust us off and reassure us that she loves us and is there for us; that we can make it through the trouble’s no matter how tough the situation we find ourselves in. In the same way Christ is constantly there beside us as we trip and fall constantly sinning, falling short of his example. However, no matter how far we fall He is always there to pick us up; telling us He loves us, He wants the best for us, that He will never let us go and wants to help us get through our troubles if we seek Him.
I personally have always respected my father. He is a great man in my eyes and if I can be half the man my father was to me for my own children, then I can count myself a good father. But even more, if I treat my wife with the same love and undying passion that I was shown by my father towards my mother, I too may be a good husband. I learned a lot about being a man by my father’s example and I count myself lucky to have had a father like mine. But my mother has and will always be a much different, a special kinship, where my father taught me how to be a man, my mother taught me how to be a compassionate, caring, loving individual. The hours she has spent listening to my problems, not judging but caring about what was important to me, showing love through both verbal reassurance and constant prayer for her wayward son, helped bring me back to the path of Christ.
A family can be a perfect example of how God is. On the one aspect you have the Father, a teacher on how to behave, how to act, he is the law side of God’s will. On the flip side you have the Mother, she embodies His love and dedication for His children, a mother teaches love and compassion and unfailing love.
When God says to honor your father and mother it is not a suggestion it is a commandment. One that when followed, honors God himself. For He is our Father, our creator. If we as Christians wish to strive to honor and worship God, our first place to start is at home. A father is not greater than a mother, nor is a mother greater than a father; but equal in importance to their children as they are the direct physical representation of God’s perfect design for a family unit. Let us all strive to honor our parents so we may always honor our God and our savior Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-10, NAS
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
John1:1-3, NAS
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and apart from him nothing came into being that has come into being.
“Salvation is a gift from God, For we cannot do anything with our own hands to obtain it, to earn it.”
For many, many years I myself struggled with this concept. How many times have we done something that was clearly sinful? Then when we finally seek forgiveness from our Creator we say something similar to this “Lord forgive me for I have sinned, if you’ll forgive me I’ll do this or that for you.” Realistically if we are truly being honest with each other we never fulfill what we promised God we would do for his forgiveness, do we? Why is this? Why can we not keep our promises we’ve made for forgiveness? It took me a very long and rough time to figure out the truth behind why I fail every time to fulfill my “promised works” for forgiveness. Ephesians 2:8 is very clear in its language. For by grace have you been saved through faith and not of yourselves it is the gift of God not as a result of works. So why can we not keep our promises for forgiveness? Well if salvation is clearly a gift from God for us and not something that we can do Works to obtain, then forgiveness is given freely to all who ask for it from Christ our works cannot give us freedom they cannot give us salvation nor forgiveness. So, by asking for forgiveness while promising to do works for it, we are bartering for our forgiveness. I’ll do this if you do that for me, where in scripture does it say we can barter for our forgiveness? Nowhere in scripture does it say we can barter for our salvation or for forgiveness this concept is clearly a lie given to us by the Devil to confuse and make everything harder than it is. As the overly religious zealots before us legalism rears its ugly head over and over. The truth is far simpler we must seek his forgiveness and he will give it to us for free because he loves us and only asks us to come to him with repentance with faith and humbleness in our hearts. Now does that mean we are not to do good works? Not at all we are always to do his work but not for forgiveness but because we have been forgiven, for because we are saved we will desire to do works for him because of what he has done in us it should be our desire to share his love to everyone we come in contact with. Our works cannot save us but can show Christs love through us for his glory.

Action for the week: read psalms 139:1-16
How does this scripture speak to you what is something special you can take from these passages?
