Greater Things

Greater Things Helping Churches and individuals grow for the glory of God Like our ministry page. Do you know the purpose that God created you for? God has given us all gifts.

Do you know your position in the Kingdom? Do you know your true Personality? How do you take an assembly of 5 and grow it to over 100 or even 500? How do you let people know you are a Christian? How are we to be Salt and Light in this dark world? Many church goers never lead another person to the Lord in their lifetime. It is long overdue for today’s Christian to be fruitful and multiply and not b

e barren! Satan gives counterfeit gifts. Would you recognize either one? The purpose of Greater Things Ministries is to equip the believer and to stir up the gifts. Pastors that have a heart for those outside the church building, but rather not ever visit their members in prison or the hospital may have the gift of evangelism INSTEAD of the gift of pastor. A teacher that is filling a spot that is vacant but cannot grow a class may not have the gift of teacher. But... a pastor that loves his members like a shepherd loves his flock is a pastor that can impact his congregation. A teacher that attracts listeners that cannot get enough of that teacher's teaching is worth keeping. Simply put, a person operating in a position without the proper gift(s) for that position can keep a church from growing in the Lord. The right gift(s) in the right position(s) is a supernatural force that causes the enemy to tremble. It can cause your church to be effective for the Kingdom of God! Prophetic Evangelism is seeing God doing something and then joining Him. Our media is flooded with images of wizards, witches, psychics, superpowers and the supernatural of the enemy because people are hungry and searching for something greater than themselves. Evangelist Curtis Davidson blends his gifts of Evangelism, Teaching, Healing and Prophecy to reach those in the ghettos, streets, parks, the marketplace and the church. Jesus did not come to create seat warmers! Evangelist Davidson desires to stir up the God given gifts in all believers. Other than my meetings in churches, our ministry is supported in great part by individuals like you. Would you prayerfully consider sowing a financial gift into Greater Things Ministries? Your gifts—large or small—are very much appreciated, and will allow me to reach many more people with God's timeless, life-changing Word.

We must learn to operate from the presence of God. His presence is like an umbrella during a downpour.
While everything in the world is hitting us from every angle, it can not harm us when we are in His presence.
The problem of our earthly bodies is that we don't stay in His presence. We don't hear Heaven. We don't see from His viewpoint.
Getting in His presence is the only way to do what we see Him doing, and say what we hear Him speaking.

So Jesus answered them by saying, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself [of His own accord], unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever things the Father does, the Son [in His turn] also does in the same way.
John 5:19 AMP

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me, For my soul finds shelter and safety in You, And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge and be confidently secure Until destruction passes by.

Have you ever met people who suck the energy out of others as soon as they open their mouths? Or people who would provoke a situation until it becomes more hostile than necessary? Those individuals fail to see the value in speaking life to others.

“Speaking life” simply means to speak out of a pure motive, with the intention of benefitting the hearer of your words. The Bible says, “[O]ut of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). This means that the words we say are clear reflections of our hearts. If we speak poison or hostility, it is a pretty good indicator that our hearts are full of bitterness. If we speak with honesty and gentleness, it indicates that we have godly and wise hearts.

To speak life, you must be wise. Those who are dead set on foolishness will refuse to see the value of wisdom. To truly be wise, you’ve got to develop a deep respect for the Lord—or, as the Bible calls it, “The fear of the Lord” (Proverbs 1:7).

The book of Proverbs is perhaps one of the best books to teach wisdom, so we will explore it in depth. Proverbs 15:33 says, “The fear of the Lord teaches wisdom; humility precedes honor.” Indeed, there are no shortcuts to speaking life. We can fake our kindness and gild our words with gold, but our vain efforts will eventually fall through if we don’t match our words with what’s really in our hearts. To sustain a lifestyle of speaking life unto others, we must always start with the heart.

It’s a sobering fact that our words reflect who we are. Jesus put it this way: “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of ” (Luke 6:45).

Clearly, ours is not simply a word problem; ours is a heart problem. Our words reveal what is going on in our hearts! We use thousands of words every day—some suggest as many as ten thousand! The Bible teaches us that words are not neutral. Words carry weight and have significant power. I’m guessing you can still remember certain words that were spoken to you years ago. Some of those words were undoubtedly painful, but maybe others were positively powerful. Words can make or break a marriage; they can make or break a child. Harsh, sarcastic, and controlling words can do indescribable damage.

But gentle, kind, and encouraging words can strengthen and protect a family. Speak life into your marriage. Tell your spouse you love them. Express your appreciation to him or her. Encourage them. Guard your lips from harsh or critical words. Speak life into your children. Tell them often that you love them. Let them know the traits you appreciate that make them unique. Avoid harsh and critical words. Encourage your kids, and pray for them. And ask God to change your heart so He changes your words. Pray that you would be cautious with not only what you say, but how you say it.

What is in a name?

Some names are common. I know 3 people with my name, Curtis. But they don't have my SIGNATURE.
My signature has POWER. So does yours. If you own a car, a house, or anything else, you had to SIGN for it. It wasn't LEGAL without your signature.
Today we have what is called Identity Theft. Some "busy" business people rubber stamp their signature on checks and letters. If someone steals your stamp or signs your name we call that FORGERY.
Many Christians commit spiritual forgery. In some cultures, Jesus is a common boy's name. THEIR name has no power. Many Christians tag "In the name of Jesus" onto the end of a prayer, THINKING that gives the prayer, power. The PHRASE, in the name of Jesus, has no power. It is THE name that gives the phrase power.
Jesus THE CHRIST is the NAME above all names. Every other person with the name Jesus, have no power, and saying Jesus in itself has no power. Unbelievers USE the name Jesus or Jesus Christ all the time without power. Taging your prayer with "In the name of Jesus" is USING it in VAIN.
Both prayer and the name above all names are serious things. Prayer is a LEGAL COVENANT. The name of Jesus is HIS signature of approval upon that legal action.
You shouldn't tolerate identity theft and Heaven doesn't authorize it. You don't sign your name to just everything.
Prayer is not something that we should do hap heartedly. We should never pray out of duty, as something we "should" do.
It is not wrong to place "In the name of Jesus" on the end of our prayers, but before we ask for God's approval (by placing "In the name of Jesus") on our prayer we should ask ourselves if all of Heaven should enforce our prayer.
We call spouting of the name of Jesus as using His name in vain. It has no power and God calls it sin because it puts all of Heaven on alert. Speaking the Word of God and prayer give Angels marching orders. So His name spoken out of His authority calls them to attention WITHOUT an assignment, therefore making it a vain action.

The early church turned the world upside down. The gospel they preached pulled people into a compelling, inclusive narrative. It subverted the cultural norms of their day. It dignified women. It bridged the economic and social divides. It reached royalty and outcasts.

Surprisingly, these early Christians weren’t even called Christians. In fact, that term only appears in the Bible a grand total of three times. The writers of the New Testament had a different word for describing those who had placed their faith in Jesus: Saints.

Saints are the people of the future. They are those who reach into the realities of God’s coming Kingdom and bring it into the present. They live with a sense of wonder in a wandering world. They paint the gray of this world with the exploding colors of the new creation.

And if you’ve placed your faith in Jesus, you, my friend, are a saint too, and it is time to reach your world for Christ.

Leading a child to Christ is one of the most exciting things you will ever do. It can also be intimidating. Remember that, while God has called you to share this message, it’s the work of the Holy Spirit that leads a child to give his or her life to Christ.

Don’t give into your fears. Pray first. Then, invite the Holy Spirit to work with you as you share.

1. Be Conversational

When counseling one-on-one with a child, be conversational. Ask open-ended questions, then listen closely to the child’s reply. Questions to ask a child might include:
• Who is Jesus?
• What is sin?
• What is a Christian?
• Why do you want to become a Christian?
• How do you feel? (Sometimes the feelings we have are God’s way of speaking to us.)
• What has led you to start thinking about becoming a Christian?
• How long have you wanted to be a Christian?

2. Use the Bible

During the conversation, show the child verses in the Bible. Slowly explain the following verse to the child.

Verses you may need:
• 1 John 4:10 (God loves you)
• Romans 6:23 (sin separates us from God)
• Romans 5:8 (Christ died for us)
• Romans 3:23 (everyone sins)
• 1 John 1:9 (confess and ask for forgiveness for sin)
• Acts 16:31 (Believe and be saved)
• Romans 10:9 (follow Jesus).

Use language that children can understand to describe what each verse means. Avoid using abstract concepts. For example, instead of saying “giving your heart to Christ,” say “Give your whole self—your actions and your thoughts—to Christ.”

3. Avoid Pressure

Ask the question, then listen. Avoid pressuring the child to make a decision.

4. Follow-up

After counseling with the child, follow up with one or both parents or a church leader. Let them know about your conversation.

Also, follow-up with the child within the week. Ask if he or she has any new questions.

Divine healing is an accomplished fact. It is a gift, like salvation, already paid for at Calvary. Have you accepted God’s gift of healing? Are you experiencing it in your life in full? If not, it’s time for you to possess the promise of healing and enjoy complete health in every area!

“I have prayed and prayed. I have been in healing meetings all over the country and have been prayed for many times, but still I am not healed. Can you help me?”

This plaintive appeal has been heard many times by ministers. They pray for sick persons, but often the sick leave as they came—not healed.

Why is it that some are healed instantly while others trudge from place to place seeking healing, only to be disappointed time after time?

Why is it that some who are pillars in the church often suffer for years while others who are less devout receive a sudden miracle from God?

Is God a respecter of persons (Acts 4:34)? Or have we failed in our approach to healing, lacking a complete understanding of what God’s Word teaches on the subject?

Much emphasis has been placed on the practice of anointing with oil, laying on of hands, and praying for the sick. But there is more to healing than anointing with oil, just as there is more to salvation than prayer.

The anointing oil, the minister’s prayer, and the laying on of hands are simply methods, or points of contact. In themselves, they do not heal. They are avenues through which we can release our faith in God’s Word.

Much emphasis also has been placed on the gifts of healings (1 Cor. 12:28), which are among the gifts of the Spirit mentioned in First Corinthians 12:8–10: “For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.”

There will be manifestations of these supernatural gifts when people preach them, teach them, believe in them, and yield to the Spirit of God; but these gifts are not always in operation.

Often new Christians are healed by such special manifestations. Then the next time they are sick, instead of believing God’s Word, they expect to be healed in this same way, and they are disappointed when they are not.

I have found in my ministry that supernatural manifestations of healing usually are seen either among sinners or among denominational people who have not heard divine healing taught. I have seldom, if ever, seen them work for Full Gospel people.

Why? Because gifts of healings and supernatural manifestations are given primarily to advertise the Gospel and to gain the attention of those outside the Church. The believer should be healed by releasing his faith in the Word of God.

We must distinguish between healings obtained through supernatural gifts or manifestations and those obtained by exercising faith in God’s Word alone.

It also must be understood that an individual does not operate these supernatural gifts; they are manifested through him. I can’t make them operate any time I want to; I can only stay open for the manifestation of the Spirit of God as He wills (1 Cor. 12:11).

We should stay open for the manifestations of the Spirit of God, but we do not have to wait for one in order to be healed. That’s good news, friend. God wants us to be healed, and He has made provision for us to receive and possess healing.

The gifts of healings have been manifested many times in my ministry, but I cannot make them work at will. I can’t push a button or pull a lever, so to speak, and make the gifts start working. They operate as the Spirit wills. Yet we are instructed not to wait for Him, since He has already done something about our healing at the cross.
Healing belongs to us. It isn’t simply a matter of prayer. It isn’t simply a matter of some spiritual gift in operation. Healing belongs to us because it has been provided for us by the Lord Jesus Christ.

When I tell people they don’t have to pray to be healed, they look at me in amazement. Many have failed to receive healing because they have based their faith on prayer instead of on God’s Word. They expected prayer to do for them what God’s Word will do for them. Prayer is successful only when it is based on the promises in God’s Word.

When people come to the altar for prayer, find out what their need is. If a man comes to be saved, you could pray for him for six weeks, but until he acts on what God said in His Word, he will get up and go home unsaved.

Turn to God’s Word. Show him what the Bible says. Get him to believe it and to act upon it. As far as God is concerned, the man is already saved. From God’s standpoint, salvation is already bought and paid for. So it is not a matter of God’s saving him; it is a matter of his accepting the salvation God offers!

Similarly, it is not a matter of God’s baptizing someone with the Holy Spirit; it is a matter of the person accepting the gift of the Holy Spirit that God offers. Likewise, it is not a matter of God’s healing an individual; it is a matter of the person accepting the gift of healing God has already provided.

Some say, “Well, I believe God is going to heal me sometime. I believe that in God’s own good time and in His own way, He will do it.” That kind of thinking is out of line with the Word of God. First Peter 2:24 says, “. . . by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Notice it says, “were,” not “going to be.” If I believe what the Bible says, then I believe that we were healed. Peter is looking back to Calvary. I was healed then. I accept that healing now.

God laid on Jesus our sickness and diseases; Jesus bore them. He was “stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted” with our diseases (Isa. 53:4). Therefore, Satan has no right to put on us what God put on Jesus.

Someone may say, “It may be the will of God for me to be sick. God may get more glory out of my being sick than if I were well.”

What right, then, would God have to put your sickness on Jesus if He wanted you to keep bearing it? There is no need for both of you to bear it. Because Jesus bore it, you are free!

All of God’s blessings and provisions are conditional. He gave us His Word to let us know what conditions must be met in order for us to receive these blessings. They won’t just fall on us automatically like ripe cherries fall off a tree. There is a God-ward side and a man-ward side to every battle and to every blessing. God has His part to play, but man also has his part to play. Man’s part is to obey God and to receive what He has provided.

Paul said that what happened to Israel happened as an example for us (1 Cor. 10:11). When God led the children of Israel out of Egypt (which is a type of the world), He didn’t abandon them in the wilderness; He had a further blessing for them. He had another land for them: Canaan’s land.

Canaan is a type of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and our rights and privileges in Christ, which include healing. God promised the children of Israel repeatedly that He was going to give them that land. When they finally crossed over the Jordan River into Canaan, God said, “Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses” (Joshua 1:3). God had said He would give them the land, but the people had to possess it.

That’s how it is with our rights and privileges in Christ. Healing belongs to us. God has provided it for us. But we have to possess it. Unless we possess the provision, we will not enjoy its benefits.

Many people are waiting for God to do something about their sickness. They say, “If God ever heals me, then I’m going to believe it.”

I have talked to sinners who had the same idea about salvation: They wanted to leave it all up to God. One man said, “If God wants to save me, He will. I’m just waiting on God.” I couldn’t talk him out of the notion, and, sadly, he died without God.

God’s Word says that it is God’s will to save people. He invites them to come: “. . . And whosoever will, let them take the water of life freely” (Rev. 22:17). The responsibility for receiving is on man’s side.

The believer sometimes makes the same mistake when it comes to other things God’s Word promises. He thinks erroneously, “If God wants me to have this, He will give it to me. If I don’t get it, He doesn’t want me to have it.” We need to get into the Word of God and find out what belongs to us. If something is promised to us, or if it is provided for us in His Word, it is His will. All we have to do then is to possess it!

We need to settle this in our minds, because as long as we waver, we will not receive anything. James 1:6 and 7 says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering, For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” Often we don’t receive because we waver.

Healing is a gift, like salvation, already paid for at Calvary. All we need to do is accept it. All we need to do is possess the promise that is ours. As children of God, we must realize that healing belongs to us!
