Amazing Grace, how it saved me and many others. Once you experience God’s love and feel His presence you will never be the same. Yes the world is full of humans that misrepresent the gospel, they use and abuse it for the own desires; but once you truly turn to God trust in him for all your needs you will never be the same nor regret this decision.

You've probably heard these lyrics from John Newton's famous hymn, but do you know the backstory of Newton himself?

Before becoming a minister, Newton was a slave trader and ship captain who participated in the Atlantic slave trade.

In 1748 Newton and his crew were caught in an incredibly violent storm, and in the face of death, Newton prayed to God for his safety after some of the crew were swept overboard. Newton and another mate tied themselves to the ship's pump and the ship eventually reached safety.

Newton attributed his survival to the grace of God, and his life was forever changed. He abandoned the evils of the slave trade and became a clergyman in 1764. Newton never stopped preaching against the evils of slavery and became a staunch abolitionist.

We all have family that we pray will be saved. Maybe that's your son or daughter. Maybe that's your brother or sister. Maybe it's your parents.

NO ONE is ever too far gone from God's grace. We can take refuge in the fact that we have a God who RADICALLY transforms lives. Pray for your family's salvation, and take comfort in the amazing grace of our God.
