This week October 22 - 26 we desperately NEED VOLUNTEERS to assist us as we continue meeting current needs and plan for the future.

Volunteers needed in our Community Kitchen, Food Pantry, Boone Brook Hollow Complex and Watauga Housing & Outreach Center -- which we continue to use as a donation supply and distribution hub!

To the ones whose picture won’t be on a news broadcast or viral post: the moms, dads, family, and friends who aren’t able to be out serving with the damage/rescue efforts, because you are serving by taking care of children or dependent family members, helping them navigate hard times and how to have compassion for other. You’re rescuing lives, too, in a different way, and though you’re not as visible, your efforts are as important for restoration as lifting a chainsaw 🫶 Love those chainsaw-lifters, too, but wanted to celebrate all the creative ways people are serving one another, even the less seen.

I know many people who lost food due to the power being out. If you were impacted, below is FEMA information, but also contact renter/home owner's insurance. Since we are in a Disaster Relief area some credit card agencies are also deferring payments.

Get requests in as soon as you're able. You can get up to $750 per household to pay to replace food. Larger damage requests require more info, but are considered for reimbursement as well. The $750 takes about 10 min to fill out. Normally money is wired within 2 to 3 weeks.

There are several ways to apply.

Go online to DisasterAssistance.gov
Use the FEMA application
Call 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. ET daily

What you’ll need to apply:

A current phone number
Your address at the time of the disaster and the address of where you are now
Your social security number
A general list of damages and losses
Banking information if you choose direct deposit
If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name
