2025 Wheat Field Days
Colorado State University’s Crops Testing Program is hosting the 2025 Wheat Field Days on June 4th through the 6th and June 10th. They are made possible by our farmer-cooperators, seed company and industry partners, and our colleagues from the CSU Depts. of Soil and Crop Sciences and Agricultural Biology, the Agricultural Experiment Station, CSU Extension, Colorado Wheat, and the USDA-ARS. The Field Days include a walk-through of the official CSU Wheat Variety Trial entries with wheat breeder Dr. Esten Mason, the Crops Testing Program director Sally Jones-Diamond, and seed company representatives. CSU faculty and experts will also share the latest information and research on wheat entomology and pathology, and Colorado seed programs.
The field days will be held June 4th through the 6th and on June 10th. The schedule is as follows: Wednesday, June 4th — Akron at 8:15 a.m. and Yuma at 4:00 p.m.; Thursday, June 5th — Walsh at 10:00 a.m. and Brandon at 4:00 p.m.; Friday, June 6th — Burlington at 8:00 a.m., Genoa at 11:30 a.m., and Roggen at 4:30 p.m. The schedule resumes on Tuesday, June 10th, with Julesburg at 8:00 a.m. and Orchard at 4:00 p.m. Please visit csucrops.org/wfd for site directions and an overview of the program.

We will be taking Milo at our Wiley location up to 15% moisture, as it is taking forever for this years crop to dry down and farmers are anxious to get the crop out of the field.

Tempel Grain Bethune is currently looking for a full time onsite bookkeeper and office manager. Responsibilities include but not limited to, daily accounting functions, data entry, reconciliation, and scale operations. Must be able to work harvest hours and have own transportation. Tempel Grain Elevators is having a customer meeting March 7th. The Wiley meeting will be happening at 7:30 am in the In Bank Basement in Wiley. The Bethune meeting will be happening later that day at noon at the McArthur senior center. Food will be provided at both meetings and we will have Micheal Keab coming in to give a presentation on marketing to be profitable in these difficult times, the value of target orders, and he will talk about averaging contracts which we will be offering this year

We feel so blessed this morning to live in SE Colorado. The benefit for Jessica last night raised 3,600 to go toward medical expenses. We want to thank all of you that came to support Jessica. It is so good to see people from around the area coming to help support someone in need. We also want to give a huge thank you to Tandy and Kelli Bitner. They cooked the meat, donated the meat along with Wiley Processing, and worked tirelessly to helping to serve and clean to the very end. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Tiffany and Bo Ringer, Will Wollert, Debbie Turner, and everyone that donated chips and brownies. Again, we are so blessed to live in an area that comes together to support someone in need. Thank you!!!

One of our valued employees Jessica Marrin was diagnosed with breast cancer and to help her pay her medical expenses we are hosting a fundraising BBQ. The BBQ will take place at 4 PM this Thursday night, October 26th, right before the Wiley vrs McClave HS volleyball game in the Wiley Cafeteria.
Jessica is a valued member of our community and we would like to help her through this troubling time.

Tempel grain is selling tickets for the Clare Dunn concert on Sept 2nd with proceeds going to help the Duval family. There will be a BBQ before hand. Come eat some good food, listen to some good music, and support a local family.
