Are you struggling to connect with your teen? Here are five tips to improve your time together.

1. Listen - Teens need to understand that their concerns and feelings are essential. Truly listening without judgment is one way you can gain trust from your teen and help them feel they can talk to you when they need you.

2. Breathing Room - Give your teen a healthy amount of space to process their feelings.

3. Consistency - Be consistent in your parenting. Teens need structure and stability to thrive.

4. Quality time - Spend time with your teen. You can learn a lot about what is going on in their life if you take an interest in things that interest them.

5. Responsibility - Give your teen a sense of responsibility, and tell them you trust them to follow through on tasks. This encourages them to contribute and feel needed and will set them up for success in adulthood.
