All adults are invited to join Fr. Will for a new summer book club, reading the selection "The Betrothed," by Alessandro Manzoni.

Set in Lombardy during the Spanish occupation of the late 1620s, The Betrothed tells the story of two young lovers, Renzo and Lucia, prevented from marrying by the petty tyrant Don Rodrigo, who desires Lucia for himself. Forced to flee, they are then cruelly separated, and must face many dangers, including plague, famine, and imprisonment, and confront a variety of strange characters - the mysterious Nun of Monza, the fiery Father Cristoforo, and the sinister 'Unnamed' - in their struggle to be reunited. With a vigorous portrayal of enduring passion, The Betrothed's exploration of love, power, and faith presents a whirling panorama of seventeenth-century Italian life and makes it one of the greatest European historical novels.

The three meeting dates will be on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm in Allen Hall: June 17 (introduction) | July 8 (midpoint discussion) | August 26 (conclusion). The suggested donation to cover the cost of the book is $10.00

The 2026 Senior Class Mass & Breakfast will be on Sunday, May 17. All graduating high school senior parishioners and their families are invited to attend Mass at 9:00 am, followed by breakfast in the school cafeteria.

Seniors should wear graduation gowns, bring caps, and meet in the Assembly Room immediately before the 9:00 am Mass. After Mass, seniors should stay in the church to take a group photo with the Celebrant and then go to the cafeteria for breakfast. (Please enter the Plaza doors.)

Seminarian Thomas Elliott has just a few weeks left this semester at Mount Saint Mary's. This summer, he will be back in Wichita at St. Patrick's parish, helping out and working on his Spanish.

Mission Outreach invites parish families who would benefit from assistance with school supplies for the 2026–2027 school year to email Shelly Babich at [email protected].

Students in grades K–8 will receive pre-purchased EPI school supply packs at final registration in July. High school students will receive gift cards in August. All requests are kept confidential within the Business Office. Please submit names by May 18.

NOTE: Parishioners wishing to support this effort will have an opportunity to donate in summer 2026.
