🌱 Two weeks of Farm-to-Plate fun with our 3rd graders!
👩🌾👨🌾Our SFA Garden has already given students two delicious opportunities to harvest, learn, and taste food grown right here at school.
First, students harvested Dragon Tongue green beans from our hydroponic tower, learning how plants can grow without soil while observing, tasting, and recording the beans’ unique characteristics.
The following week, volunteer gardener Mrs. Hampton helped our 3rd graders harvest several varieties of fresh lettuce. 🥗 Students enjoyed a salad feast—and harvested so much that the extra lettuce was added to our school lunch line that day!
From green beans to garden-fresh salads, our Farm-to-Table Taste Tests are helping students discover where food comes from, learn how it grows, and be brave enough to try something new.
Want to GROW with us? 🌿 If you’d like to support our new SFA Garden adventure as a volunteer or by donating needed gardening supplies, please contact Barb Mies at [email protected].
We can’t wait to see what grows—and what we taste—next!
