Do you have your Footsteps of Faith book yet? There are many good, quick reads. The one I read today, I'll share with you! When you pray, do you ask how to share God's love and who to guide you toward for the purpose of leading others to God? Try it!

SHARE GOD'S LOVE
by Judy Cooper
Galva Christian Church, Galva

I didn't attend Sunday School or church until third or fourth grade. One day at recess, a classmate asked each of us in the area where we went to church. I didn't have an answer.

My brother was dating a girl who attended church, and I started begging to go with him on Sunday mornings. He gave in, probably because Joan encouraged him.

From that time on, my parents drove me into town for Sunday School and church, if I wanted to go. The people of that small congregation took me in, helped me figure out church etiquette, and showed me the love of the Lord. They didn't discourage me when a classmate and I got the giggles during worship and couldn't stop.

Without their openness to let me in to this way of life, I can't imagine when I would have found my Lord.

Be there for that child or person. Show them the love of the Lord.

Lord, thank you for those who knew your words and were there for many, many other young people and me, looking for that narrow path. Amen.

Family Promise is such a special ministry. Throughout the year, we host families who are working toward greater stability through education, employment, and gaining a place to call home.

Thank you to all our volunteers who shared their time, care, and hospitality with our guest families last week.

Today's Bible lesson is about Leaving the Familiar from the Upper Room devotional.

And our Prayer of Thanksgiving this week gives us the joy and assurance that all things come of thee. The Message version says it in today's language:

Everything comes from you; all we’re doing is giving back what we’ve been given from your generous hand.
I Chronicles 29:14.

Before following Jesus, Peter was a fisherman; his whole life revolved around catching fish. That changed when Jesus gave him a new identity as a “fisher of men.” Yet, after three years of following Jesus — hearing his teachings, witnessing his crucifixion, and even seeing him resurrected — ...
