Risen Savior Lutheran Church

Risen Savior Lutheran Church The initial formation meeting for Risen Savior Lutheran Church was held May 12, 1993, directed by Pastor Tom Harmon.

Our mission is to share the healing forgiveness of Jesus Christ, encourage a growing relationship with the Lord through small group ministry, and to reflect God’s love in everything we do. Weekly informal gatherings for adults and children, resulted from that meeting. Two suites in Oxford Square Shopping Center were leased in September 1993 to be our temporary “home” until the construction of our

permanent facility. Dedications to the glory of God were held in February 1996 for Phase I and in November 2001 for Phase II.

What if everything you thought you knew about being the Church came down to just one thing Jesus actually said?

This past Sunday, Pastor Matthew walked us through Matthew 28 and challenged us to see the Church not as a building or a program, but as a people sent by Jesus Himself. With all authority in heaven and on earth, Christ sends His Church into the world to make disciples, not through status or titles, but through everyday faithfulness in the places we already live, work, and gather.

At the heart of it all is the Gospel. Jesus does not call us to simply manage our sin or try harder to be better. He calls us to receive what only He can give, complete forgiveness through His death and resurrection. In Baptism, we are brought into God’s family, and through His Word, we are continually shaped as His disciples.

Wherever God has placed you, you are part of this mission. A conversation with a friend, a word of encouragement at work, or a moment of grace in your home can become the very place where Christ is made known.

And through it all, His promise remains, He is with His Church always, even to the end of the age.

If you didn't show up, what would be missing?
Please understand that this is not a guilt trip. It's a genuine question to think about.

Because somewhere along the way, a lot of us picked up the idea that church is something you attend. You show up, you sing, you listen, you go home. You punch in and punch out. As long as you are in the seat, you are doing your part.

But what if God had something far more specific in mind for you than just showing up? The church is not a stage with an audience. It is a family, and every single member of that family has a role that belongs uniquely to them. Not just the pastors, not just the staff or the people you see up front on Sunday morning. Every person gathered around Jesus has something to bring that nobody else can bring and something to do that nobody else can do.

This Sunday Pastor Matthew is bringing a message that is going to challenge the way we think about our place in the church. Specifically. Personally. Practically. What has God placed in your hands to do as part of the family He has brought together?

We are heading into our fourth week of our series based on Francis Chan's Letters to the Church, and the common theme running through every single message has been the same. God has more in mind for His church than most of us have settled for.

So before Sunday, here is the question to carry with you. If you didn't show up, what would be missing without you?

If someone asked you to describe your church, what would you point them to first?
A website? A staff page? A Sunday morning service?

Here is the thing. Any of those things would only tell a fraction of the story because the church is not a building, a website, or even the people who show up on stage on Sunday morning. The church is every single person gathered around Jesus, each one with a role to play, each one with something to contribute that nobody else can.

This Sunday, Pastor Matthew is bringing a message that is going to hit close to home for a lot of us. What is your role? Not in a general, everyone matters kind of way, but specifically, personally, and practically. What has God placed in your hands to do as part of this family He has brought together?

This is week four of our sermon series based on Francis Chan's Letters to the Church, and if the last three weeks have taught us anything, it is that God has far more in mind for His church than most of us have settled for.

This Sunday might be the week that changes how you see yourself in it.
We hope to see you there.

The perfect church family doesn't exist, and that might be the best news you've heard all week.

We all have a picture in our minds of what the perfect church family looks like. Everyone gets along. Every idea lands well. Every program works. Every Sunday feels like exactly what it should be, and then reality shows up.

Pastor Matthew brought something worth sitting with this week. That picture perfect version of church we carry around in our heads? It might actually be one of the most dangerous things in the room. Not because wanting more for your church is wrong, but because when that ideal becomes something we demand, anxiety follows. Then disappointment. Then fingers start getting pointed.

Francis Chan puts it plainly in Letters to the Church. The church was never meant to be built on our ideals. It was meant to be built on Jesus Himself.

When we begin to see ourselves the way Jesus sees us, not just as sinners who need forgiveness, but as sinners who have been completely forgiven, we start to see the people around us differently too. The person in the seat next to you on Sunday morning is not someone who keeps getting in the way of your perfect church. They are someone Jesus shed His blood for.

So here is the question worth carrying into this week. Are you chasing the church you imagined, or are you embracing the family God has already given you?

On this Memorial Day, we pause in grateful remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to our nation. Across generations, brave men and women have borne great sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.

We remember the fallen with reverence, pray for the families who carry their loss, and ask God to grant us hearts that seek peace, justice, and gratitude.

Today, we remember. Today, we give thanks.

We invite you to honor and remember a loved one in the comments by sharing their name and the branch in which they served. May we remember their sacrifice together.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday!

The word “Pentecost” (pronounced PEN-tuh-kost) comes from the Greek word pentekostos which means “fiftieth.” Exactly 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead, the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in the form of flames of fire.

On this day we remember the Lord and Giver of Life, who revealed Himself as the Promised One!

We invite you to come and worship with us Sunday at 8:00 and 10:30 AM.
Can't make it in-person? Join us online at 10:30 AM.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲… 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆?
For years, Olive Garden told us, “When you’re here, you’re family.”
But if we’re honest…family is complicated.
Families can be messy. They can be filled with love, grace, disagreements, laughter, forgiveness, and moments that stretch us. And the same is true for the Church.

This Sunday, Pastor Matthew will explore what it really means for the Church to be a family. Not a perfect family built on our preferences, expectations, or ideals, but a family built on Jesus Christ Himself.
Because the beauty of the Church isn’t that we all have it together. The beauty of the Church is that Christ brings imperfect people together through His grace.

In a world that often encourages isolation, division, and surface-level connection, Jesus calls His people into something deeper, a family rooted in forgiveness, truth, service, and love.

Whether you’ve been in church your whole life, have been hurt by church before, or are simply searching for a place to belong, this message is for you.

Join us this Sunday as we gather together as the family of God.
